3. Yes, the more u learn Combat with Shilds the more u understand for what purposes shild was created - for carefull aproach and dmg reflection, so u become more slow but carefull and strong. W/o sword in main hand u know that u could only block dmg - so u are more concentrated on this. But take a sword - stop being too concentrated, plan counter attacks and as a result become more fast. Anyway its an exemple of posibility of the minus stats. And to move Retribution Combat art to it right position in character sheet.
4. You could have multiple levels of Pet pal - like different pet languages, or it could be dependeble of creature level or something. Anyway current Pet Pal is musthave, and Civic talents needs to be combined.
5.Why do u think so? STR+INT (50/50)= battle mage with good resists. AGL+INT(50/50) = some Shadow blade or another Mage who likes crits. STR + AGL(30/70) = classic rogue with good dodge. STR+AGL (80/20) = warrior with good initiative. STR+AGL (50/50) - archer, etc. Same result as in current system but more laconic. (+memory in INT for exemple)

And i realy dont like current 10 kg max weight on STR, cos in a game with tons of loot u cant play parties w/o Warior
