I've reached the interior of the Gargoyle's Maze where I'm supposed to fight some skeleton mages and collect a key that one is carrying. I've killed them all several times and no key can be found; the exit door remains locked. A few seconds after they're all dead, they all come back again, and the cycle goes on endlessly. Somebody on our side keeps saying "Can you please just stay dead?"

Has anybody else had this problem? Am I missing something?

I never did the maze since I had Braccus ring, but I know the necro skeletons inside go away if you destroy their Soul Jars.

No idea about the Maze though. Sorry.

I went to a savegame from BEFORE I entered the cellar room and that resolved the problem. I found the key and exited in time to miss the skellies. Perhaps I was too slow the first time or it was just a pure glitch?

Can't remember where you get the key, but in order to kill the necromancers you need their phylacteries from BR's Vault (bottom right of the map).

You can talk them down using Persuasion or you can just kill them again get into the cycle in which you are killing them all over. In case of the latter, just remember that you can flee combat or just teleport out - go to BR's Vault, get their phylacteries and sort them out.

Hmm... In the quest log, it indicates that I have discovered that some undead won't stay dead. I guess the problem was planned to penalize those of us who linger at the scene... but why did the key disappear from the game? THAT feels like a glitch!

Just got through this part. You either need to persuade them to not attack you or collect their soul jars from the mysterious cave on the beach and destroy them. They will stay dead.
