Current editor version: 3.0.146.461

Note the ! icons and the lack of hierarchy: all templates under All.

The editor patch seems to have killed off any semblance of organization.

Some templates are using folder icons, too. #wat

I used the Steam Console to download the previous depot for comparison.

Even if you do have the ALL folder in your root templates, the GUID values seem to be outside the project's values. The Stat editor does not seem to recognize newly created skillbooks so I can't link them to their stats. Hopefully this gets fixed soon.

My root folder is completely EMPTY frown I've tried restarting the editor, validating files, no luck. I hope to god this is fixed asap and won't leave and project-hurting consequences, because I'm 130 hours into a project smirk

Yep, in mods from previous tool build items placed in game not spawning in new tool build (i have this problem), it looks like you need place them again, for some people who got bigger projects this can be very problematic...
Question: is there a script for containers to respawn mod items, and new assets added to existing mod?

@xyz009 I bet it's possible.

Bumping this thread for better visibility in the forums. We gotta press these issues for when the devs get around.

It seems like old creations may still function if you use the search field @ Root. However, with my new project I have nothing there either. Only thing I can work with is terrain, which isn't terrible news for me luckily. Huge map and a lot of terrain to shape, hah. I'm sure the devs will get right on it tomorrow, seeing 'tis weekend now and all.

I use the previous version of the editor to work with templates.

That's why I put together this guide: [STEAM] How to Download Any Version of the Editor

Unlike for others, restarting the editor fixed my "empty root templates", not sure if I dare to continue working on my area though.
I would hate to lose it.

Hi everyone,

It appears some critical data was not updated along with the editor. To fix this for now, navigate to "{Your Divinity Original Sin 2 folder}\Data\Editor\Palettes\" and change the folder named "Root Templates" to "RootTemplates" (without the space).

Hi everyone,

Since the Data has been updated accordingly, this renaming to RootTemplates should now be the case for everyone, regardless of if you manually renamed it before the DLC update.

For Steam, you might have to relog to trigger the dlc update.
For GOG, you'll have to redownload the data once it's updated and follow the same copy data folder steps you did during the first install.

The DLC data was updated and this rename to RootTemplates should not automatically be the case for everyone working with the latest data.

Be sure to check our Patch Notes thread for more detailed info smile

Sincerely,
Kevin

Just curious, but why does the newer version of the editor have a lower version number? Kind of threw me off on whether I had the latest.

There's a game version and an editor version.

@Windemere, the versions are taking from our internal versioning. The game quickly gains in version number because of the hotfixes and internal changes, whereas the editor only got one big update up until today.

I'll always put the version in the patch notes to make sure everyone has a reference to check against.

Gotcha, I missed that the first one was a game version, I thought they were both for the editor. Thanks.

What is the guidance on the root template folder rename ?

1: I cleared my DLC checkbox and uninstalled the editor.

2: I re-added the DLC (data download) and then re-installed the editor. This seems to create a root templates folder under pallettes as "RootTemplates"

I still get a ton of warning signs in the root template heirarcy.
