I'm fairly new to modding and spent the last two days trying to get used to the interface etc. (this stuff is actually a bit overwhelming) and i stumbled over something while looking at Skills and their properties in the Stats Editor. According to the side "Skill creation" in the Wiki Skills can have the Property "AlwaysBackstab" and "CanBackstab", while "AlwaysBackstab" is kind of obvious, but i haven't figured out what "CanBackstab" exactly does.

I appreciate every help i can get to understand all this stuff better. ^^

Pretty sure AlwaysBackstab is for something like Backlash which always deals backstab/critical damage, where CanBackstab means the skill can benefit from the Backstab mechanic (being behind your target).

I can understand why AlwaysBackstab exists (for something like Backlash) but why CanBackstab? Isnt backstabbing bound to be a thing for Daggers or CanBackstab force backstabs for this specific skill independent from the weapon you are using? I know that AlwaysBackstabs does force anyweapon to backstab in any position but even with some testing now i can't see anything like that happen with CanBackstab.

AlwaysBackstab is basically synonymous with "This is a dagger skill".

A great example of CanBackstab is Flurry. If you have daggers, this can backstab, but it's not exclusive to daggers.
