I don't think that's the case, since many people online have reported doing it with their other undead characters. However, it does seem to be the case that everyone who was sworn had an undead character as their party leader, which I think is the requirement... if that's the case, then I'm really, really dissapointed with Larian here. I really hope that that isn't true.

The whole quest, it's ending, and all the dialogue leading up to it heavily imply that the character will have to make a choice between the Void and the Gods. Why just dangle the potential there as a tease? Don't tell me that "[Sallow] has something I seek" or that "he won't fulfill his end of the deal just yet" if he won't ever, and can't ever, fulfill it. It seems beyond stupid to lock such a critical player choice with such vast consequences behind a single race, especially all the while implying that the player is just missing something necessary. This isn't a decision unique to Fane or the undead where it realistically makes sense to limit it to them; its an option that, logically speaking and given the way the story is structured, should be open to everyone.
