I have started from scratch since the last huge patch a few days ago (October) and I have found out that the cat that appears at the beginning following you has disappeard from sight just after getting it in your party for the first time. There were no battles involved. The cat just disappeared as I was exploring the area around Fort Joy beaches.

This has happened to me under two different games, with two different parties.

Any ideas?

PS - I saved the cat in a different old savegame prior to this patch, so it's not the cat got killed or something. I checked that.

PS2. Game version reads 3.0.146.969

The cat reappeared at some spot nearby where Atusa is killed. I reckon it got stuck because I accessed Fort Joy interior via a ladder. I didn't want to trigger that cutscene yet.

Yes the cat will stop near Fort Joy's entrance to spectate Atusa's cutscene if you try to talk to him with Pet Pal (not totally sure if the talent is necessary) it will also say something like he feels threatened by the magisters at the entrance. The cat will "unstuck" until the player trigger the cutscene or escapes Fort Joy.
