A new crash started to appearing after I updated the engine a couple of hours ago.

Glasses now always crashes as soon as I want to edit the root template entry of any object (stats/object) within the stats editor. It doesn't matter if I want to edit an entry already existing within my mod or if I create a completly new entry.

This even happens when I create an entirely new project.

I tried verifying integrity via steam (for both game and engine). As well as reinstalling the Divinity engine 2 data dlc. Obviously I also tried restarting the engine, steam as well as the computer.
I also made sure "\Data\Editor\Palettes\RootTemplates" has no space inbetween.

This is also happening for me, I was really looking forward to modding and this has halted progress completely.
Very frustrating bug.

Duplicate thread. Answered here. Also Switch gave a temporary workaround tip there. But do keep in mind that saving stats files will override manual changes to the txt files.

Indeed a very unfortunate bug we are working on to fix as soon as possible frown

Kevin

Going on a week.... )x<

The workaround is to manually add it to your Stat file, but the editor will not backread it and any time you edit the file via the editor your manual addition will be erased/overwritten.

That's because you're editing the .txt files. The editor generates .txt files from .stats files, which are just XML files, but otherwise does nothing with .txt files. You need to edit the .stats files directly, for this workaround to work correctly, reload stats from the main menu/toolbar, and then make a temporary change to the tables you want to save so the Save button will activate. When you save from the editor, the editor will regenerate the .txt files. (Unfortunately, Save All does not regenerate the .txt files...)

The .stats files can be found in Data\Editor\Mods\<your_mod>\Stats.

I'm aware of all of the above, fire.

I was unaware, however, the .stats files were in comprehensible English when you open them in word/notepad. I had a strong suspicion they were like roottemplate files and were nonsensical, and I never actually attempted to edit them manually.

Which is fabulous news... I'll proceed to manually update my ItemProgressionVisuals until a fix is finally rolled out. Cheers! grin

All files in the game and editor data are plain text, except these extensions:

*.bik;*.bnk;*.bshd;*.bullet;*.cur;*.dat;*.data;*.dds;*.fnt;*.gr2;*.iggy;*.iggytex;*.lsb;*.lsf;*.lsfx;*.osi;*.patch;*.png;*.swf;*.tga;*.tmpl;*.ttf

However, most of the binary formats can be opened in existing programs, and others can be converted to readable formats.
