Hello!

So I've followed the guide on the Larian Wiki and managed to create my own custom version of Lizards (all I really wanted to do was modify their racial traits and give them more hair/skin colors; both work just fine)!

The issue I'm running into is with portraits. I have created copies of the cameras in the Character Creation level and that's all working fine also. But I can't, for the life of me, figure out how to fix the portrait for my custom race once the respec mirror comes into play. I used the mirror and now my character's portrait is focused on his neck/chest.

I found out WHERE the photo booth / CC "room" is on Reaper's Coast (that's where I am currently in the game), but it's just one large selectable template. It doesn't really seem like I can add cameras to the template in a way that would be read similar to the full CC level.

What can I do to get custom race portraits to work in the "respec" rooms in their respective acts? Would I be better off trying to set up a mod that strips (assuming overriding vanilla races works) races of their traits and just adds them to the selectable Talent pool in the CC?

EDIT: It turns out it's as simple as copying the existing Lizard cams/icons/etc and renaming them on the level the template was created from. Go figure. Back to modding!

Thank you for all of the guides that have made messing with the engine possible, and any help on this project!

I'm not at my computer for reference now, but could be the photobooth in RC is loaded using level template. If you wish to edit it but can't target specific items, it sounds like you may want to try and right click > Explode level. It's not as dangerous as it may sound :') It basically "tears apart" level templates back into editable mode.

Not that I've dabbled much with portraits at the moment, if that's even the right way to do it to fix your problem; No idea. But I do believe level templates inherits its content from a source level. So if you click on the booth, check in the sidebar what it says on "Level Name" and load a new level, find the level in the browser and pull up that, then what ever changes you make there 'should' (if I haven't misunderstood) transfer over to existing maps that are pulling from that level template too.

Glad you figured it out!

Thanks for the response, and the explanation on how the templates work! I had no idea they read from the source level, and instead figured it was a sort of "snapshot" of a level's configuration.

I've got a basic understanding of how it works. I was actually re-saving the entire template over the original every time I made a change, which took quite a while.

Now I'm just trying to position the cameras/icons in a way that produces an aesthetically pleasing portrait, because for some reason the mirror ALWAYS defaults to the blue portrait in the human male location and I'm currently not sure how to change that.

Thank you, again!

I think exploding a template actually copies the contents of the level template into the current level. This means that any changes you subsequently make will only apply to the level template instance in the current level, and not in other locations. So if you want to change how it looks everywhere, you probably should edit the level template directly in the template level (it's Mirror_Main, if I remember correctly).

Everything except for the lighting seems to update and function correctly when I edit the template "SYS_CC_LV_Template_Full_A". It's the template used in the Reaper's Coast map.
