Sadly, although I am very familiar with the inventory fix, it requires a copy of the inventory file in question. All sites referenced in those old fix threads have long since disappeared. I have never found archives or copies of those inventory database files anywhere on the internet. It's a real shame, as I still have been unable to complete a quest or two where there is a mundane item that gets sold or misplaced (or sometimes, a bug prevents it being given in the first place) and the quest cannot be completed.
On the plus side, I did find the heart. Because he was polymorphed and died next to a wall, the Heart clipped inside of the wall and holding ALT did not show it. Did a very careful pixel-hunt throughout the entire area and was able to toss Teleport stone right up against the wall, allowing me to port in and click-drag it to inventory.
