With any RPG, if you have to read the manual, it is a bad game THAT is completely insane. With games becoming more and more complex, you will need to read the manual. Many things like hotkeys, spell descriptions etc usually are only found in the manual. But you have a right to your opinion. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

But you have a right to your opinion. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> Most of the time you won't need the hotkeys for a game, anyway. They're just optional extras. DD is one of the few RPGs where they are actually important <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> Spell descriptions are always found somewhere in the game itself, so you don't need the manual there. I admit it also helps if you play an insane amount of RPGs, as they tend to swipe concepts from each other. I remember playing through most of Baldur's Gate without touching the manual, and I only looked at the manual for PS:T long after I'd finished the game. Most games these days tend to be intuitive as well, so they are easy to figure out as you go. I didn't open the manual on DD until I was half way through the dungeons below Aleroth - probably more than half way. Didn't really need to for a point and click system <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> I would actually say games are getting simpler, not more complex... So, not so insane after all, huh? <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

I've got a 40 minute trip by public transport from any of the near-by retailers. That gives me plenty of time to read the manual through. It's the closest I can get to playing the game on the train.

What about SUMMONER 1 & SUMMONER 2 for the PS2 ???? Did anyone play these ? It is so hard to find a really good RPG for the PS2. Which PS2 RPG`s are the best ones ?? They say Gauntlet : Dark Legacy is considered an RPG. Is it ?? <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/devil.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mage.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/devil.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mage.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/devil.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mage.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/devil.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mage.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/devil.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mage.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/devil.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mage.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/devil.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mage.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/devil.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mage.gif" alt="" />

I've heard of Summoner 1 - I heard it is good. I think I'll give it a try in the next time. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" />
I was disappointed, hearing that Summoner 2 is only available for PS2 - I was disappointed, because I'm currently writing stories about Gods and Godessess. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" /> (Oh, I have some problems with this word - I don't remember how much d's and s's are needed ... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/disagree.gif" alt="" /> )

SUMMONER is easily the best non-Anime style RPG for the PS2 that I`ve seen yet.The Anime sytle RPG`s get old after awhile.
HERES TO MORE NON-ANIME STYLE RPG`S FOR THE PS2, IN THE FUTURE !!!

PS1: Suikoden, Suikoden2, Vandalhearts, Vandalhearts2, Final Fantasty Tactics and {maybe Xenogears}.
PS2: {maybe Suikoden3}.
PC: Divine Divinity, {maybe Gothic}, {maybe Gothic2 since i haven't played Gothic 2}
<img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/up.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/up.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/up.gif" alt="" />If better Combat, better Viewing, add Voice dialogue and add persistent world with better stats and skill handling, then hands down <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/up.gif" alt="" />Morrowind <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/up.gif" alt="" /> would and could have been the best of the best <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/puppyeyes.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/up.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/up.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/up.gif" alt="" />
Its in my opinion that all these are the best RPG's and they are not ranked in any order. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shhh.gif" alt="" />

Best RPG that I've played is the Baldur's Gate series (BG1 and BG2). Great storyline, great combat, great NPCs, just great overall.
The second best RPG I've played would probably be Divine Divinity. I was actually more addicted to DD than I was to BG2, but that could be because during the summer I can be addicted to a game without much consequences, whereas during the school year... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ouch.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shame.gif" alt="" />

My top 5:
(1) Ultima 8 - *Shifts to defensive posture* Yes I'm well aware of its reputation as the worst Ultima of the series, but its my personal favourite, mainly because the story and setting seem darker and less fantasy cliche than the other Ultimas (although I only played U7-9). It's also the first RPG I played.
(2) Planescape: Torment - For the story and characters, obviously.
(3) Morrowind - For sheer scale and freedom.
(4) Baldurs Gate 2 - Inferior story & setting, but superior gameplay to Torment.
(5) Fallout 2 - Any game that allows your character to become a porn star deserves to be in my top 5.

Stark: Ultima 9 is worse than Ultima 8. I didnt mind 8 and solved it right through. Ultima 9 just made me want to vomit and just having it on my hard drive made me want to continually wash my hands, I felt so contaminated.

Anachronox is a fantastic RPG than noone seems to know. Its a little slow to start, but once it gets going, it grabs you by the throat and doesnt let go. Fantastic stuff, Its a pity Tom Hall left Ion Storm, we probably wont see a sequel! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cry.gif" alt="" />

I like the older RPG games:
1 Thunderscape 2 Anvil of Dawn 3 Daggerfall 4 Ultima (the Underworld serie's)
And System Shock 1 and 2 but the most people won't agree with me that it is a RPG game, but more a FPS.
I have been frozen in my seat on many occasions not wanting to move my mouse for fear of what might happen next, I’ve heard sounds and voices so clear that I was becoming unsure if they were actually coming from the speakers

The best rpg of all time was Zelda: Ocarina of Time...end of story. It had everything. Great graphics, EXTREMELY good storyline, great gameplay, and excellent replay value to it too. I STILL play that game to this day. Majora's Mask should have been with an adult Link though...at least that's what I think. The one thing that ruins the series for me is that new zelda game on gamecube. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/down.gif" alt="" /> Complete letdown.
BEAVERS AND DUCKS!!!
