maybe it is but they completely butchered Link's look to that of a 4 year old's drawing. he's just a massive cartoon now! the first E3 where the trailer was shown was a clip of an adult link fighting ganon and it looked completely badass. The E3 the next year...they showed what the game actually looked like and from what they said on (i think) gamespot, it was a letdown.

well, the fight off Gannon at the end is fun, u get to fight him with swords, he has 2 scimatars, and Zelda shoots the stupid arrows this time, I think Majora's Mask was a letdown though.

it was somewhat of a letdown. I REALLY wanted to play as the adult link. I mean...how much damage can a little kid in a green tunic do? I'll take the big bada** with the swords and shield thank you very much. The masks in that game got completely out of hand. you end up at the end of the game with about 30 that you trade in for one. that mask was pretty cool but there was so much potential to be cooler and they really didn't capitalize on it. I'm still glad that I bought it. It goes to show that not every game in a series will always be good. Just how FFX-2 will prolly be the one FF bomb there is...besides the movie.

I'm replaying FF7 at the moment. Come to think of it, it's not much of a RPG, is it? More like an action adventure. But then, this feel is obviously what differentiates Japanese RPGs from Western ones.

By the way, speaking of Link -- I don't see what's so appealing about him that someone dedicated this kind of girl's wet dream to his character. (Warning: R-rated stuff. Horribly written sex, melodramatic angst, purple prose, mangled English, slaughtered characterization and more by a supposedly 20-something woman whose writing skills rival that of Jim Theis, author of the infamous The Eye of Argon. I am not responsible for lost braincells.)

I feel a lot dumber after reading that story. That is the single most retarded piece of writing I have read in a VERY long time. Oh well, she gets her jollies from dreaming about game characters. I would say more power to her but I don't want to promote her

I got through the first paragraph and was utterly confused and dumbfounded at how pathetic that woman's life must be where she has to escape into her dreams to live out her fantasies.

there's nothing wrong with dreaming... and having dreams such as that...
i mean, it's human, it's natural, and we really don't have control of
what we dream about... but that was just ridiculous, and she must really
be lonely in order to actually type all that [nocando] out and pretty much
"novel"ize it. really sad, if you think about it. but then again, it's
a waste of a thought.

I meant it to the extent that her love only exists in her dreams and she escapes to them to go through life. At least that's what I gathered in that REALLY long intro. I mean it's alright but really weird. ESPECIALLY the fact that she wrote about them all and how she thinks that a video game character is the perfect man. but whatever it's all relative or somethin

Heck...I wouldn't even want to see an advertisement for that story. I'd probably be scared for life and claw my eyes out just to make the pain stop.

*whisper whisper* If you want to see how bad it gets, do a Edit -> Find (on this page) on that story. Look for "kiss", perhaps. Read through each sex scene, and you'll discover that they are all the same ("Link's heavenly body", "my enchanted body", "his infatuated body" (this elicits "WTF?!" from many. Infatuated? Body?), "tiger-like cries", to name but a few). I mean, there's bad pr0n and then there's bad porn.

I'm resurrecting this thread because its "before my time".

Some of my favorite RPGs in no particular order:

Might & Magic 4 & 5 - When 5 came out, you could combine the games and travel back and forth between them - super cool!

Anachronox - Western plot, characters, and animation in Japanese RPG style - awesome!

Divine Divinity - I think you all know where I'm coming from on this one.

Gothic 1 & 2: Seems like the best RPGs are European. Beautiful graphics, interesting characters, and I never felt alone(i.e. Morrowind).

Ultima 8 - I know alot of people hated it, but it was my first Ultima, so its kinda sentimental, like losing your virginity.

Ultima IX - Once I got the bugs worked out, I enjoyed it.

Planescape: Torment - The best D&D game ever, no exceptions!

Obitus - Extremely old game nobody knows about. It helped me perfect my graph paper mapping skills.

I'm still kind of saddened that so mwany RPGs were "before my time" ...

Hm, however, I still have some packages of old Ultima games lying around here ... having bought them from a flea market ...

I only wonder about two things :

- will they run ?

- are the disks still in shape ?
