I have a feeling that both of you just ignoring words you have written five minutes ago.

Quote

Er, no. I don't think you spent very much time reading the posts; we argued, but reasonably enough, I would think. I did not jump up and down to defend PS:T -- in fact, I argued, generally, for the "linear" RPGs. If you took a few seconds, you might also have noticed that I argued against the attitude toward the label "true RPGs."

I have spent more than enough time reading your posts, I even decided to read one more time to be sure I really didn't miss things. Linearness of RPGs in your conversation was just only one part of a game being good or bad RPG.

I hate to do this, but it seems I will have to copy and paste your own writings to you both.

LBane
Morrowind is far and away the greatest rpg ever made and how you could even argue against it is beyond me...

later

Winterfox
Ever heard of subjectivity? Try it.

Comment: Offence - going personal.

Winterfox if you have ever studied in school you probably know what is it when person going from discussing the topic of the conversation into discussing ability or inability of his opponent to discuss things. (I just have offended you Winter, by doubting your educational level, but this was in no way intentional, just an example)

----
Winterfox
No, your bashing PS:T or not is not in question. It is, rather, your head-hit-wall attitude of "Morrowind is the best game EVAH! How can anyone contradict me?"
----

Isn't this a reason you started all this discussion?
You didn't like the Attitude. So, please don't start telling me here that your conversation had purely an informative and educative purposes, that you were interested to find an Ultimate truth about real RPGs through constructive and peaceful conversation. Thats a lie.
-----

Winterfox
It's simply that dull, that tedious, and totally unfun.
------

Comment: you know that Lbane likes Morrowind. I wonder, what would be your reaction if he would have been writing the same things about the game you like.

-----
Winterfox again
None at all. Problems occur when you try to force your opinion on someone else, or refuse to acknowledge that -- gasp! Shock! Horror! -- people are going to disagree with you. And they have every right to. No, I'm sorry, but your opinion is not the One True Opinion(TM).
------

So, that's all about attitude again.

---
Winterfox
Really. Who made your president of the RPG club? Did someone come up with an RPG bible, with the commandments that everyone must follow? Weird. No one gave me a memo.

----

Is this really conversation where both parties respect?

------
And finally Winterfox
I've come to accept that the definition of "RPG" has changed over time, and not everyone will share my definition of it. Hence, I'm not going to go around preaching, "But this isn't true RPG! You suck! I'm right! You are wrong! Shut up!"
------

Heh, but you would like to show that LBane is doing that, do you?
------

Verdict.

Lbane have written his thoughts, but forgot to place "IMO" in the last paragraph, writing about magnitude of Morrowind.

Winterfox argued or I think the better word attacked, because she felt that LBane had bad attitute and should be taught a lesson. Winter was using dirty offencive tricks on opponent having nothing common to true discussion.

No, lets do our best to stop them before they do that.

Sure all of us have our own opinions on different games, but we always can express our thoughts on games with respect to each other, right? No lambs here.

Oh, and we were, we were. I didn't find a single personal attack in LBane's posts. We did, however, attack each other's argument, and IMO, arguments are fair game. Just not the person.[/quote]

Yes, again, why do you go personal then? It is all about games, right?

It looked like it??I dont see the problem with debating. i didnt trash planescape nor did i say anyone would be stupid for liking it.Im starting to wonder if you ever belonged to any other forum. If you seen some of the stuff posted on 80 percent of the other forums, you would probably have a heart attack considering the way your reacting to this.

I did belong to many other forums LBane and I still belong to some of them.
That is mostly why I am still here. I like the atmosphere.

I agree that you shouldnt go as low as cussing someone out or disrespecting them, but you make me feel like i am in the 5th grade again, and i should watch every little thing i say when nothing either me or winterfox said was out of line.Freedom to express ones opinion is not against any law that i know of.I realize this is off topic but unless i swear at someone or totally disrespect someone, dont go telling us we cant express are opinions because, then your telling us this forum is pointless, and not everyone has to agree with everything. thats just the way it is and you need to deal with it.

Don't you have to watch what you are saying being mature? I have nothing against freedom of expressing thou thoughts. And finally I am not any censor here to judge whether you should say something or not.

But, again, I am also expressing my opinion, and I felt personal offence was raising here.

Dragon Quest Series!!!!
they are huge in japan, when dragon quest 3 came out for the nes people got grazy, a lot of kids did't go to school, a lot of people did't go to work just to wait in a BIG LINE to get the game, kids were robed of their game when they got out of the store, well in japan was illegal to sell a draqgon quest game in any day that were not hollydays and end of the week, although I do not know if it is still like this anymore.........It is true that all those freaky things just happened in japan, but come on you guys..............

THAT HAS TO BE THE BEST RPGS THERE IS!!!!!!!!!!!

To lord mallis, i realised it was someone else that said that the graphics were poor, sorry, and if you find yourself strapped for cash remeber the best wayto play M & M 6 is to NEVER buy any armour or weapon, only use gold to level your character and buy powerful outdoors magic ie. starburst and meteor shower. and thanks for the advice i will try that later.

I said it. And it is a good game. In my homble opinion its the best one I 've played, and others who have played it (namely family members) have agreed. Why don't you like it? the Graphics? I like them, show all games don't have to be relasitic, iTS A GAME!!!
i know its just a game but it is a incredibly poor one. Everyone and every magazine went crazy about it and i though it was appauling when i played it. Maybe this is because i played all the other ones and they were largley better in story and game play. I'm not telling you yo cant like it i just think it is a waste of time and money when you can be playing good RPG's like Morrowind (and the expansions) or and M&M title.

Excuse me? Please try not to accuse someone of lying when the person hasn't even said what you think she did.

Did I ever say a single word about a peaceful and constructive discussion? You've acknowledged that one of your comments in response to me is beginning to verge on a personal attack, and that it is unintentional, but you persist anyway by going right ahead to assume what my intentions are. What, are we both parts of a hive mind now? Can you read my thoughts, perhaps?

I would ask the person as to why he/she thinks so.

So, that's all about attitude again.

Curiously, your post is all about commentary on my attitude. The irony is just too much.

Assumption again. You say that I "use dirty offensive tricks"? Well, I'll refrain from saying what I consider your replying techniques to be.

In my opinion, it should be, if you liked Diablo you'll get along with Lionheart, you start off with a few mini quests to get some XP and then move on eventually on to one final quest, more hack and slash than RPG.

Actually, mostly yes. But, why?

You didn't answer, why did you use dirty tricks on LBane, you just forwarded this to me, saying: yes I am bad girl, but look at yourself.

The price of peace is understood through war. We had to exchange a series of personal attacks to understand that we can live without them.

Winterfox, please understand, I have no reason nor wish to attack/offend you. I appologize for being rude.

First time I wrote here because I felt you both were becoming aggressive towards each other.

I propose peace. As it was written somewhere. Lets make love, not war.

Berating someone of doing something and then doing it yourself is shooting yourself in the foot, no? And there are very few polite ways to answer: "Why did you use dirty tricks on so-and-so?"

Winterfox, please remember, not everybody is used to a razor-sharp knife like cynism often is.

If someone untrained comes in contact with a razor-sharp knife, then he or she might just cut himself or herself something off. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/badsmile2.gif" alt="" /> Please remember that YOU or someome else might be a master of it, but not everybody, simply because of the delicacy of cynism.

Not even mature people might be used to cynism; just imagine a simple farmer being confronted with cynism : would he be able to understand it ? THat's just as an example.

what game are we talking about now? if its zelda wind thingy then i have played through most of it and it is awful. the story is poor and the weird cartoon graphics make it even more childish than it already is. Unless your 12 or under it is a waste of time.
