I have been playing the role-playing games for almost 30 years now and I just bought D:OS2 last night and was planning to play the front lady on the cover as my protagonist.

However, not in my 30 years of gaming have I been so unsettled by something. I was totally thrown off here, when I went into the 'character creation' screen and saw how different the front elf on the cover (Sebille) looks like, in-game, in comparison to the poster / picture art.

I know that 2D poster art and 3D modelling of a character will have differences, but IMO this is completely blown out of proportions. I mean all the other Origin characters look fairly similar to their poster art but Sebille is just ridiculously different (ugly) in comparison to the poster art.

Now, don't get me wrong, I am not talking about an 'eye candy' elf model here, and I think elven race lore in D:OS2 is an arguably acceptable fresh take on the race (however I would have preferred only a faction of elven race to be humanoid flesh eaters and not the entire race). But coming back to the point, what I am saying is that humans are not unusually sexy in this game, or dwarves for that matter, but they are fairly similar to the advertised picture art and appear much more acceptable and playable to me aesthetically, however elves are not.

I wish the poster art depicted elves properly or more closely, but then I don't think they would have put Sebille in-front of all the characters in the popular picture art (which is also displayed on top of this web page too) due to obvious reasons :p

I guess they needed a pretty face in front on the game poster, not so much in-game though.

I really hope they revisit the in-game elf models and make them more similar to the poster art as IMO this looks like a positive step as the current elf model is badly disproportionate.

Have they given any indication on this? Because, now I am seeing a lot of grief regarding this, as I am searching web for Larian Studios comment on the matter. Remodelling in-game elf models would definitely be a welcome change at least for me, does anyone else thinks so?

(I think, now, I am probably going to play either Beast, Lohse or Ifan.....Beast's story line looks really interesting).

The OS2 elves have caused a certain degree of controversy, though if anything, Sebille's artwork and in-game appearances have probably converged compared to what they were. The original Divine Divinity elves looked more kind of classically, well, elfy, at least as much as you could tell from the rather more pixel-bound graphics, but they seem to have decided to go for a particular look here. Mixed feelings, personally: I think it's kinda cool that they decided to buck the trend for the "slender, attractive but vaguely alien human" stereotype, though I admit I'm not hugely enthusiastic about the aesthetic. But it's what it is.

(And 30 years? Newbie. biggrin )

In 30 years of rpg you seriously never found a strange slender alien humanoid race ?
That's 30 years of being CASUAL good sir.

To be more serious, I kinda have a bit of a solution for you : modding.
https://www.nexusmods.com/divinityoriginalsin2/mods/111/?
Here is a mod for you, it's not a remodel, just a retexture, but it's better than nothing.

(And Beast is probably the most blank and boring character, interesting topic about it : http://larian.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Main=78123&Number=632361#Post632361).

Only if they were depicted as strange slender alien race......poster art begs to differ considerably, specially in comparison to other characters pictorial illustrations and their in-game models. You seemed to have missed the entire point of my post, Good Sir.

(BTW I apologies if my gaming experience offends you ;))

Not interested in any mods just yet.

I am always glad to see someone else has posted about this issue. I love Sebille as a character but the elf design in DOS2 is just hideous and extremely disappointing. I am glad for the lizards, because without them I'd be stuck playing a boring human. I mean I'd love to play an elf if they had the classical (human-like) look they had in teh first game.

I am guessing they thought they were being 'original' and 'innovative' but this was just a bad idea...

And I completely agree with what you said about flesh eating being just a practice for a particular group... That, too, wasn't a nice addition at all. It's fairly gross and doesn't make any sense to me for such a race...

I hope someone makes a mod to make the elves look better and give them more normal bodies. I swear those giraffe necks will give me nightmares...

I thought it was appropriate. Muscular and thin seem to fit a species designed for life in the woods quite well.

Do you realize that artwork for poster and game 3d models for characters done by totally different people? If I had to guess, in both cases it's probably was done by Deviantart artists and likely just for food, like Larian did with characters from Dragon Commander.

Overall, I agree. Even demon character model for Adramahlikh is more attractive than Sebille's.
