Well, that depends. In the series "RPG Round Table" (was it at IGN ? Don't remember) an developer of a company actually had the popinion that *basically* everything where you play the role of someone actually *is* an "role playing game" - even an First Person Shooter !

However, I am thinking that A) he is *basically* right, but b) an First Person Shooter *doesn*t fit into the genre of RPGs, simply becvause it doesn't have any of the "features" an RPG has - like experience points, rule-set, hero upgrading and so on.

Dues X was a fps/rpg so they do exsist. If someone wants to think that every game is an rpg because you play as someone else so be it.But i dont agree with that at all.First off to be actually role playing you have to have charecter development which fps games do not have.

2nd.. fps games there are usally no alternate routes to take. its all pretty much straight forward gunnem down type gameplay.rpg games give you many different decisions to make which fps games do not.

Ya in a sense alrik your right, but you have to think about what the deffinition of roleplaying games are when it comes to video games.Im sorry but im not willing to call every game ever made an rpg because there not
