--is not a RPG. No, seriously -- it doesn't even bill itself as one. It's an obvious beat-em-up.
Best story? Easy. PS:T and KotOR. Seconded by the NWN modules
Elegia Eternum and
Excrucio Eternum. (Yes, they're "amatuer" products, but the story's actually better than a lot of "professional" games out there. Beats ToEE, Dungeon Siege, BG1, Diablo 2, BG2, IWD, et all by a long shot, as far as story's concerned. And it's amazingly immersive.) BG2's story, by itself, isn't
that good by my standards. It's the game as a whole -- story, sidequests, characters -- that make it good.
