Final Fantasy 8
the only one i have completed, but i dont think its an rpg, more of a simple adventure/statedgy game like pokemon. [/quote]

Try adventure/RPG. There's zero tactical element in this game, IMO. For that matter, there's zero tactical element in both the FF games I got the chance to play (VII and VIII). It's just trying to get Knights of the Round, trying to get the ultimate weapon, Omni-slash, etcetera.

I said they were simple statedgy games and they are because you have to select the correct attack each time to make sure you kill it in the most efficient way, which is strategic.

Which one's that? Gauntlet Legends? I thought Dark Legacy would have been better (not having played it, though)?
no the one on the sega genesis system, not gauntlet ledgends, GAUNTLET 4. awesome. another cool thing is that you could play 4 player due to it being on the genesis system, that was a laugh.

First you say all games are rpg,s now your claiming final fantasy 7 and 8 to be strategy games??lol your so way off its not funny. You can beat ff 7 for the most part doing nothing but physical attacks and winterfox is right theres no strategy involved.

Why your even claiming to know anything about game genre is beyond me.You have been wrong on just about everything you have posted period.

...uhm, hello, you do that in almost any game. By that definition, almost any game on Earth -- space sims, all RPGs, all action games (including the old Mario games, Rockman/Megaman X games etc.) -- is a strategy game.

You think your well clever dont ya? Well your not. You cant even spell almighty. HA! Also winter fox has the right idea all games require even the smallest amount of stratedgy, even ff games.

This makes me remember the Battle.net forums when people dont know what to say anymore they mention others' spelling errors. Never saw the point in doing that though.

Please excuse me my question, most of us shared info on our age somewhere here in some thread. Thor All Mighty, will you be so kind to tell us, how old are you? I do not ask this question to strangers, but you have more than 60 posts already, so you are not stranger.

uh ,BTW, you laugh at LBane (sorry if I spell it wrong, can't spell good myself)
for spelling Allmight wrong. Its Almight, but actually the correct way, in my culture, to spell it WOULD be all mighty. then, you call Winterfox; winter fox.

dont be to hasty to judge others by that kind of thingy.

You remind me of two other people who were here. They did not follow forum rules or use good etiquette when repling to a post, as I have seen in many of yours. Please try to remember that this forum has people from all corners of the world, and english is not well known by some of them. One does not need to be negative to get thier opinion across to others.
This is ofcourse my opinion only.

origanally this was a topic by someone who wanted people to, and did themselves, list their favoraite RPG's ever, so people could see if they liked similar things! look what happened

good to know that everything goes well again.

hello to all & may u game gloriously.

back on topic. winterfox's right in that all games need strategy of some kind to win. even tic-tac-toe needs strategy.

as for RPG, almost all sorts of games that may describe u, the gamer or who or whatever that u represent in the game are in some ways RPGs. after all u play to win for the 'people' or 'sides' that u are with. other than that, it's all a blur & in a good way it's great for us all so that we don't have restrictions when it comes to gameplay & game designs & etc.. .

the biggest factor for me in whatever games is FUN. that has to be there before i ask if it's RPG or RTS or FPS or MMO or tabletop .... .

so maybe a slight change in the thread; how would u choose a game? what do u look at when choosing a game?

1. FUN
2. FUN
3. long-term FUN
4. replay FUN
5. repeat FUN

that's for me.

uhhh So now all games are rpg,s and strategy games? You are confusing me more and more and by the way ,i dont think you understand what Winterfox was trying to elaborate to you. What she said was all games do take atleast alittle bit of strategy but thats does not make them all strategy games.

I can beat Final Fantasy 7 with just physical attacks and heal does that make it a strategy game??Nope not in the least.By the way its fine if you want to correct my spelling, but if your going to go and do something like that, maybe you should learn that theres no d in the word strategy. Thanks
