Hello ladies and gents
Im curious if the damage from weapon (2 hand or single hand) add to the spells of the caster. More specific, i have a mage and i have him with a wand + shield. If i put points into 1 hand will that damage add to the spell damage of a fireball for example? Or the damage affects only the wand/staff attacks?

Pretty sure I tested that, with negative results. For both magical and physical damage spells.
Warfare, on the other hand, worked with spells that did physical damage i.e mosquito swarm.

But I'm only around 90% sure, so go ahead and test it. Without going too much into spoilers, you will have the option of respeccing infinitely later in the game.

No.

Weapons only affect the damage output of "Weapon Skills", which require a weapon to be used in the first place (Battle Stomp, Backlash, most Scoundrel/Warfare/Huntsman skills).

If you have a wand + shield mage, it's probably better to put points directly into Intelligence and whatever school of magic your mage is focusing on and use a wand with the same type of damage. So Pyro + fire wand, Hydro + water wand, etc. After a certain point, your mage will be focusing exclusively on spell-casting and you'll only equip the wand for the bonuses it provides. At that point, all the points you've put into INT and your respective school(s) of magic will pay off in increased spell damage. If you're really concerned about weapon damage, you could always carry a staff and put points into the Two-handed skill.
