Wasteland! It's old as all hell, but still a GREAT game. Fallout is the spiritual successor.
Spiritual, hell: I seem to recall that two of the people involved in Wasteland's development also formed part of the team that did Fallout. And it was fun, wasn't it?
I believe you're right about the Fallout dev team. Fallout II has a small tribute to Wasteland. For those that play FII, go to San Francisco, head to the chinese labs (can't remember their name, but it's not the hubologists), and head to the lab with a lot of computers. There's a tech that randomly mentions Wasteland.
