I encounter this error very frequently:

I did everything the text instructs me to. Crash dump doesn't appear under game directory \bin. What more info should I give?

You're not the only one. It happens. More frequently after the last patch. There are certain regions where I can be almost certain to get the error. Such as the farm at Reapers coast, just before the Paladin checkpoint. Or when I do a save in Cloisterwood, the whole save gets corrupted and terminates when loading with a direct X error.

Had same problem ... Just find a way to reduce your GPU clock .. reduce it by 100 mhz or to any optimum freq. It will work you can use msi afterburner or any other tool to do this .

The same problem here , my spec i7-8700k , 16 Gb ddr 4, gtx 1080ti, windows 10 (1709)
Games starts hangs after windows updates , at 15xx run fine , then decided to update to creator 1703 , game starts hang and during fight reciving direct x error frequently. Udated my OS to Win 1709 last days and still have the same problem.
Did also Direct x reinstall , game file veryfication and clean nvidia drivers installation (latest 188.31 and also oldest)
Need help , other demanding games like VR tittles with tons supersampling runs fine geting my hardware to limit.
This game is only the one with direct x problems and freezes

I managed to solve this problem. the game worked normally and one day I disconnected the portable hard drive and connected the controller under this usb socket which was previously connected to the disk. the next day I wanted to play Divinity and the game stopped running because of DirectX Error. After disconnecting the game pad and connecting back the disk, the game began to run without a problem.
