Being a tank is rather useless since there isn't really any way (reliable way, anyway) to "make" enemies focus your tank. Well, unless your team has. no. one. else. BUT. tanks.
And since the threat of being perma-cc'd is always very real, opting for a dps-oriented build is pretty much always the wiser choice. Especially so when you're playing lone wolf, since most of the time you will be outnumbered. Being able to take down as many enemies in as short a time as possible is THE way to do it.
As a side note, Warfare works with *any* skill that directly deals physical damage upon impact, whether it is weapon-based or magical in nature. The "pure" necromancer build is a physical-damage caster that relies heavily on Warfare among some other stuff. Really strong too, from what I have seen (even without all them bugs).
That being said, as someone who has played on Tactician, I would suggest you play on Tactician as well, if you're planning on doing an archer build. From what others have said, I gather that a lone wolf archer is so absurdly strong the game soon becomes boring as hell to play (based on what others have described, anyway). Well, afaIk, lonewolf-anything is absurdly strong, but apparently archer more so than others - IF, you know what you're doing. Unless you're really really not a tactical player. Or, unless you don't mind the game being super easy. Nothing wrong with playing purely for the story.
PS: to be honest, if you're going with only 2 characters, having one as a magic dps would probably let you experience the game's combat more fully.
