I'm well past that now. The troll is still there and still ignores me but I suspect Merrill and company are now residing in the hall of echos. It doesn't sound like I missed out on much regardless. Leave it to me to find a new and random bug.
I suppose if I had gotten there in time, I could save those new order guys or something. I'm not sure about a hatch near a church (I assume the derelict one) but I found so many that I'm thinking I may have opened it from the inside.
