I've noticed that when I save a game (re-write over) I seem to have about 20 meg that is used each time I save. It does not matter that I write over an existing file or not. Always 20 meg from my hard drive is eaten up.

Hopefully you have some suggestions.

Started a new character 'cause of .34 version (.33 did the same) "Another story" Started with over 8 gig of space and am now down to 7 gig.

Do you mean 20MB over and above what is used by the save itself? Try running Scandisk (it is called Error Checking, or something like that, in Windows XP). With a FAT32 file system (Windows 98/ME, possibly XP) the free drive space listed can be incorrect (this is a more common error than lost clusters or cross-linked files).

1GB of saved game folders will zip to under 200MB.

Hi Raze, the problem is that when I save over another saved game the remaining disk space is reduced by about 20 meg. When I check the saved game it is about 20 meg for a low level character about 61 meg for end game. Also nothing like scandisk for XP. If there is I must have missed it.

+/- 60Mb for 1 save game at the end of the game of the game might be correct.

how much is your quick save game cycle? do you switch between 2 quicksaves or more??

Do not use the quick save, only the regular way and I have benn rotating between 2 save games. Both eat up from the hard drive 20 meg each time.

In Windows Explorer, right click on the drive Divinity is installed to and select Properties; then on the Tools tab select Error-checking.
When the games saves over an existing save, it does so to a temporary folder first (in case there are any problems during the save), then deletes the old folder and re-names the new. This would not cause any permanent extra disk usage, though. As the saved games get larger (as you enter new areas, etc.), the files saved in the dynamics folder will also become larger, but this would not account for 20MB per save.

Hey man, I lose space when I save too. Usually about 2-4 mgs every time I save. What I do before I play and after I play is go to My computer, then right click your active drive and use disk clean-up. Clean out temp.files, and recycle-bin.(you can delete temp.internet files as well if you want). That usually gives me back quite a bit of space back on my active drive...but before this make sure that you have scan-disc and defragged recently.
