I wonder if I can start a game, use a mod quickly after recruiting companions and then remove it before continuing.

Will achievements work again?

Just tried something... I made a grenade for the first time ever (they generally don't appeal to me, because I have no idea how much damage they do and I like NOT using consumables, because in other games they were much too rare, unlike this one - but learned behaviour, etc...) in a game where I used mods previously.

Got the achievement.

This means that using "FortJoyRespec" after the party recruitment has been completed is possible. I don't consider this cheating because I already have all the achievements for Fort Joy (including "Hammered"), I think this just patches something that shouldn't be a problem in the first place: getting a party with 2 Pet Pals, 2 Loremasters and 2 Barterers when not playing a fake-multiplayer game - and therefore wasting a lot of talents and civil ability points, which one could put to better use (like building a Thievery 4 character, which would be far more helpful).
