Hi,

It has been a while since I played original sin 2. I'm starting again a rogue character, but as far as I remember some mechanics are broken in order to get the highest DPS. I know warfare should be maxed and scoundrel isn't that important. Few levels in polymorph is very usefull for mobility.

But I also remember a post that you should not invest in finesse, but strength instead ?

I did this with my previous rogue, and indeed the damage was far better while dual dagger backstabbing. Can sombody explain the logic ? Because daggers are finesse based. Or am I dreaming ?

Thanks

You are remembering it wrong. What they probably said was "invest into Warfare, not Scoundrel", because Warfare boosts your physical damage and is therefore better to max than Scoundrel.

Since daggers damage scales based on Finesse, using daggers as your weapon while pumping STR strikes me as a Bad Idea.

But you know what, let me just test this with my level 21 characters moving my daggers from rogue to warrior:

On Beast, my Rogue:
STR = 12
FIN = 45
Warfare = 1
Dual-Wielding = 7

Damage = 715-750

On Red Prince, my warrior:
STR = 43
FIN = 14
Warfare = 13

Damage = 508-534.

In conclusion, For FIN-based weapons, you should boost FIN, not STR.

Thanks stabbey. You are right, I could check my old character and all points are indeed in finesse. Still it doesn't make sense that almost every non-caster should maximize warfare. The warfare multiplier is just wrong and I was hoping they fixed this by now. Second biggest flaw in the combat system is the way armor works. The division between magic and physical is just too "binary". But I guess these issues have already been discussed too many times on forums ...

I do not remember how i used to play with the skills exactly.But scoundrel boosts crit multiplier in anything.You only need 5 to get the last skills in whatever tree.If you spread too much you need Memory to have all the skills.By the end of the game i used the enchants and replace a skill that gives memory with more useful ones like critical with spells.
I used the mirror a lot to adjust attributes and skills to have the best results with the abilities
Scoundrel and Warfare was good when you could backstab with a knock down.Other than that you dont need warfare to boost your physical damage to play as dual scoundrel
