I loved Dragon's Dogma, and rather curiously, for a JRPG it had more of a European flavour than a lot of western RPGs. Definitely party-based though, you in essence have two mains (kinda) and two hirelings.
And Two Worlds II... I dunno about that one. I sort of enjoyed it, and while it was undoubtedly more polished than the original, I think they also polished away a lot of what gave the original its sparkle. I also like playing as a female character, which was possible with some contrivance (as long as you remembered to turn off the player voice otherwise it was a bit weird) but why it wasn't just available by default I dunno.
I'm thinking there must be single-character third-person games out there lately but as always happens when I try to put my mind to work it won't cooperate. Maybe I should go back to bed!
