Wow. Incompatible saves in the same directory? I really have to wonder about Larian's thought process when handling the DE. EDIT: No there isn't, I think. I had to create a new profile when starting up the DE, no old profiles could be found.
Anyway the solution to your problem is to make separate profiles for every campaign you want to create. Want to host a co-op campaign - make a new profile. Want to try out that new funky build? New profile.
