I have to echo the last poster's comment. Lone wolf was and still is objectively much stronger than alternatives. People throw around terms like overpowered and broken frequently to express this.
As a devoted fan of Larian and Divinity 2 - my group has nearly 100 finished campaigns with groups sizing from 1 to 4 in nearly all possible configurations. Our sincere conclusion is that the change to Lonewolf did not succeed in making Lonewolf a balanced option. It is still another form of easier difficulty - which is FINE. We recently banned its use from any of our future campaigns because it significantly reduces the challenge and as an extent the fun of the game for us.
