Just recently bought game had no problems wthout patch but now can't get out of verdistis have tried to download patch 1.34 but keep bombing out on download at 64 % stops downloading and ask me to run as though it is completed. loving the game but totally stuck any help please.

You might wanna try out a Download Manager which resumes the downloading of a file. Seems that you have problems with that.
e.g. GetRight (free trial version).

Can you leave Verdistis by the main gate, or by teleporter stone? Doesn't sound like it.

Try deleting all of the files in the '..\Divine Divinity\Run\Dynamic' folder. Then start Divinity, load the save and try leaving.
This folder is used as a cache for the game. Files are created / copied there from the save game folder when you load, and written / copied from that folder when you save a game. The files will be re-created as required the next time you start Divinity. If there was a corrupt file in that folder, deleting the files should fix the problem.

A possible work-around is Teleporting Anywhere, via hex editor, but even if it works, the problem may re-occur the next time you try to enter/leave Verdistis (depending on what is causing the problem in the first place).

Do you have any recent saves you can re-load, to see if they also have this problem?


For the patch, it might help to try saving it to disk first, then run it. See this list of freeware download managers.

tried all of the suggestions, tried to load saved game, loaded then came up error Div.exe, then shut down. re-start computor tried test settings message comes up configtool has caused an error in KERNELL.32.DLL un-able to read file exiting. cannot load game at all now. need help

Were you careful to delete just the files in the dynamic folder?
Is there an error message in the '..\Divine Divinity\Run\error.txt' file, if it exists?

When the configuration tool is started, it opens/reads/closes;
..\run\config.lcl
..\run\nlseng.dll
..\run\slashed.cfg
..\run\config.div


You could try re-installing the game. Zip or otherwise backup your saved games folder to another location first, just in case. Then un-install, re-boot, shut down all non essential programs (especially anti-virus), re-install the game, perhaps make sure you can start the game, re-boot, shut down all non essential programs, install the patch, re-boot, shut down all non essential programs, start the game. This procedure is a bit over-cautious, but the best way to avoid install problems.
Troubleshooting and Manual Install Procedure

Someone else fixed a problem of not being able to leave Verdistis by replacing a couple files in the saved game folder (world.x1 and something else, IIRC) with those from a previous save. Depending on what point you are in the game for the different saves, this could cause other problems (and you would need to pick up any items you left on the ground in Verdistis or the council hall before doing so). If you want to try this when you get Divinity going, I'll confirm which files were replaced.

Hi again, tried all you suggested, was missing direct x file, ran maint wizz located faulty file which was giving in-correct amount of memory avail, mem very low, removed old files and created plenty memory shut down, all the right things, game now loads but still stuck in verdistis, tele stones have already been stolen. I getting desperate now. Even did a new save.

Do you have a previous save that works?
Did you manage to download and install the patch?
Did you try the Teleporting via hex editor post, or is that a little too technical for you?

Yes I downloaded the patch okay
Yes I can open old save goes back away but lets me get playing again
Yes I'd probably mess up hex editor.
I'll fight back to where I was and learn to save more frequent.
