Hi,

Unfortunately I can't start a new game. I have Divnity 2 installed on a laptop and a desktop. I have previously played on the desktop and it worked fine (I presume it still does).

However when I attempt to start a new single player or multiplayer game I encounter an error in the initial loading screen. The error reads 'failed to delete file....' and then lists one of several files.

I believe these files are all level caches ordinarily saved in the document file for Divinity Original Sin 2.

Any help would be greatly appreciated as I'm dying to start a new game with my wife!

Check if have Windows Defender controlled folder access turned on (it is in "Windows Security" > "Virus and threat protection" > "Manage ransomware protection"

If you do and haven't allowed the game access to documents folder you get lots of error like this :
---------------------------
FileSystem error
---------------------------
Failed to delete file:
\\?\C:\Users\Hali\Documents\Larian Studios\Divinity Original Sin 2 Definitive Edition\LevelCache\fj_fortjoy_main.lsf
---------------------------
OK
---------------------------

You can either turn off controlled folder access or make an exception for "<Wherever>\Divinity Original Sin 2 Definitive Edition\DefEd\bin\EoCApp.exe" by clicking on "Allow an app through controlled folder access" link on the same page.

If it isn't Windows Defender it could be some other anti-ransomware doing the same thing.
