This error message means the graphic driver has crashed. I'm gonna go out on a limb and guess that in your case it's probably an overheating problem.
While the OP didn't mention if he got any sort of error messages, but he did report that this game "melted" his laptop. This actually lends more validity to my guess.
I myself have had crashes accompanied by this error message. But in my case it has always happened only when I alt-tabbed out of the game. The game would crash when I tried to get back in. I have noticed signs of overheating for some time while playing other games, as well. This is why I'm replacing the fans of my laptop in the next couple days.
