In the controller UI, holding the A button down will search the area around the lead character, and bring up a list of containers and items that can be interacted with.
If you email a save to supportdos@larian.com I can take a look at it. Each save is a folder in the '..\Documents\Larian Studios\Divinity Original Sin Enhanced Edition\PlayerProfiles\<ProfileName>\Savegames_patch' folder.
