that troubles me and my friends a lot.
we are players from china and use different network operator.
i think that maybe the reason.
we tried hamachi to use LAN instead of direct connection but did not work.
so please help.

Did you try waiting a while?
There is a known issue that can cause a delay when starting a multiplayer game, if one or more players has a high amount of latency / lag. It could take several minutes to get into the game, or in extreme cases up to 30 or 45 minutes. It may help to close any other applications that may increase latency or use bandwidth (vpn, browsers, chat apps, etc.).

As a workaround, if high latency is limited to 1 or 2 people, the host, or another player, may be able to create the desired character in split screen co-op (using 2 controllers) and those with high lag can join after the others get into the game.
Alternately, on PC it is possible to start multiple instances of the game on one system to create multiple avatar characters that way. Start the game, switch to windowed mode and lower the game resolution (and maybe check the option to mute the sound volume when the game doesn't have focus), start a multiplayer game, hit Esc, open the Connectivity Menu and make sure LAN Connections is enabled (or that can be done in the options before starting a new game, if it isn't still enabled from testing Hamachi). Next, start the game again from the '..\Divinity Original Sin 2\DefEd\bin\EoCApp.exe' program file (doesn't matter if the first instance is started through Steam/Galaxy or the executable), select Join Online Game in the Campaign section, switch to the LAN tab, rather than Online, and join (repeating if necessary).

I tried waiting but not that long.Just a few minutes.
But we can play arena without latency at all.
I think it might because of the difference of network operators between me and my friends. They use the same but not me. They can join each other‘s host.
I tried a game platform to overcome this kind of issue. But my friends always disconnected every 2 or 3 minutes(can overcome the blackscreen issue but not stable).
So at last I tried Hamachi but it did not work at all(still blackscreen).
you mean I create two instances. One is the host and another join the host. What should my friend do? Join the host too?
And we use hamachi at the same time?

I've tried to load the old save file and let my friends join, but they all stack at the end of the loading bar.

Do you get a black screen if you try joining an existing save? The problem I mentioned above only happens between character creation and loading in to the game for the first time. In that case, if someone ran 2 instances of the game and created your character for you, it could let you join once they got into the game after character creation. If this is happening after getting into the game, that will not help, though.

Unfortunately, this may indeed be a network issue between you and your friends.

Are you shutting down all non-essential programs before starting the game, especially anti-virus and anything network related (utility or monitoring programs, etc)?
Have you checked your firewall settings? Many routers have built in firewalls, which could block inbound connections from the game.

Have you tried hosting in a new game?

Have you tried joining anyone else?

Try going into Arena mode, create an arena, open the Connectivity menu and check the settings, then exit to the main menu and try joining in the lobby. Alternately, create a multiplayer game lobby, exit and try joining. That helped a couple of people who had an issue crashing when trying to join, at least, so maybe it will make a difference in this case.

I assume you tried joining using the lobby and invite functions if everyone is using the Steam version, or all GOG, as well as Direct Connection (with a Server ID or IP address)?
If you use Discord, that may also be an option.

Try resetting your network adapters:
- click Start (or Search in Win 10), type cmd into the search box, right click Command Prompt and select run as administrator.
- type the following command and hit Enter
netsh winsock reset
- when that is done, there should be a message 'Winsock reset completed successfully'
- type exit and hit Enter, then reboot your computer.
For more details, see:
https://iihelp.iinet.net.au/Resetting_Network_Adapter_(Winsock_Reset)

If that doesn't help, please email supportdos2@larian.com with a dxdiag report (WinKey-R, type in dxdiag and hit enter, then when it finishes loading click on the 'Save All Information...' button and save the report somewhere handy), preferably for yourself and the host, and a link to this topic.
Also check the respective systems in the '..\SteamApps\common\Divinity Original Sin 2\DefEd\bin' folder for the gold.log and network.log files to include.
It may help if you rename the current network.log file, start the game and try joining one of your friends, quit, rename the file, restart and try hosting and finally quit, rename the file and try try the way you hosted that a friend can join, and play for a couple minutes until they get disconnected. Hopefully all of the network.log files it will help determine what the problem is.

About anti-virus, I use MSE and already closed Windows firewall on the control panel.
I use Steam version and I tried to join others' host in lobby but stack at the end of the loading bar. Joining others' in the lobby is the direct connection way, right?
I tried 'netsh winsock reset' command already but it did not work.
About the Arena mode, we can play together with no latency at all. But the same connectivity settings did not work in story mode.
I think it's the network issue and I will try other game platforms (at least platform can solve the blackscreen issue but not stable) and find a stable one.
I think this kind of issue really troubles some Chinese players. I searched for the solution for this issue on Chinese SE and lots of people have this issue too. But there is not a uniform solution.

Actually, Direct Connection is separate from the Steam online lobby. The host can get a 'Server ID' the Connectivity Menu after starting a new game or loading a save, or use their IP address; people should then be able to join by clicking Story in the main menu, Multiplayer, then the Direct Connection button in the bottom right and paste in the Server ID or IP address provided by the host.

Thank you for everything!
