I have to disagree with you Womble, demo is a diminutuve for demonstration. Demos are usually made to be exactly like the game so that people can see what the game is all about. Demos with bugs usually arent good as they give a bad first impression.

Usually a demo is released a week or two before the game goes gold. Sometimes the demo is released half a year before the actual game. Usually those are buggy.
Hmmmm, I don't think you see what the whole game is like from any demo. They are designed as 'tasters' for the game. Look at the DD demo for instance, just a dungeon crawl really. No indication of the true size of the game. If I like the demo 'reasonably well' for a game I usually buy it. Sacred was wonderfully simple to control. That sold it for me really.
