Actually having read a lot of posts on the Sacred forum I will not judge the final game by the demo at all. The demo was rather old apparently and had a sh*tload of bugs including un-optimised graphical speed. I'm sure it will run fine in the full version. I had no complaints with my PC though it isn't a celeron!

Yeah, that's right. Demos usually don't resemble the whole game.

That why they call it a demo...

I have to disagree with you Womble, demo is a diminutuve for demonstration. Demos are usually made to be exactly like the game so that people can see what the game is all about. Demos with bugs usually arent good as they give a bad first impression.

Cheers, Frank I agree. Usually a demo is released a week or two before the game goes gold. Sometimes the demo is released half a year before the actual game. Usually those are buggy.

Yes, maybe, but not everybody (not all of the developers) manage to build such a Demo ! Often Demos are only a part of the game, or even special levels not existing in the full game ! Apart from Bugs.

@ Womble, was that a dig on my baby Celeron? Thats okay, cause I am saving for the "Beyond" gaming rig. Anyhow, I played almost all of the demo again. I must say I had a better time, this time. The first time I saw the Gladiator walking, I busted out laughing! Very comical! (giggle) He easily took care of the baddies in the first quest, as I was familiar with how the special moves and inventory worked. Way easy! I was not having the jittery video this time either. I thought that it might have had something to do with the rendering of the Saraphim, when I saw it wasn't doing it with him. Details or something. All the way around I had a good time with it, and most likely I will buy the game when it is released. When they get their servers going, do you guys want to get into a good co-op game? Let me know.

Do you mean what the graves say? Good sense of humor reminiscent of DD. No not at all. I found it on a book stand on the second floor of a house. Any one else find it. Hint it was not a book.

Hmmmm, I don't think you see what the whole game is like from any demo. They are designed as 'tasters' for the game. Look at the DD demo for instance, just a dungeon crawl really. No indication of the true size of the game. If I like the demo 'reasonably well' for a game I usually buy it. Sacred was wonderfully simple to control. That sold it for me really. Allthough, how to you zoom the view in and out? Never figured that one out.

Well, I haven't played those so I can't comment. FPS ain't my thing.

Well, I haven't played those so I can't comment. FPS ain't my thing. They're not FPS. Deus Ex is First Person RPG with a sci-fi setting. Thief 2 is a First Person Sneaker. On higher levels you are not allowed to kill so the only thing you shoot are rope and water arrows.

Allthough, how to you zoom the view in and out? Never figured that one out. Scroll the mouse wheel. Thank you cleg, that was driving me nuts. Death, sorry I meant the FPS 3D style. I honestly get totally disoriented when I play those and forget which way is up! Also I've seen a friend playing Deus ex, its pretty much a shooter.

Also I've seen a friend playing Deus ex, its pretty much a shooter. Depends on the style of play. I just hacked into computers to activate the defence system and used invisibility upgrade and shadows to avoid biological creatures and emp grenade against robots.

For those without mouse wheel (like me ) : Use + and - keys on the keyboard.

A few rather funny things about Sacred :
- First, I found out that sometimes, when you beat Undead Ones, you can colect their skulls - and use them as Weapons ! Imagine, bashing a monster with the skull of an undead one - possibly even speaking !
- Well, the Sacred-Community has found another thing : Schniepel. The Goblins cry this out as a kind of weird war-cry (at least in the GFerman version), and the community is speculation about what it might mean .
(The german ie is spoken like a long i , like in irritation, only longer.)
The both theories most of the people agree upon are :
- Schniepel means a higly snobistic person, also called "Schnösel". This is slang and / or even dialect.
- Schniepel ist another slang / dialect word for a certain part of the bodies of male persons ... (women don't have it ).
There are reports of Goblins attacking with the cry "Schniepel !" , but when they are defeated, they sometimes cry "Doch kein Schniepel ..." (English : "No Schniepel ...") , being frustrated and disappointed (this sounds to me like "he / she wasn't such a cheap victim I expected him / her"). I have difficulties translating the implicit feeling of disappointment that lies within the addition of the word "doch" in this exact sentence.
EDIT : I've seen first posts changing the names of "Goblins" into "Schniepels" !
On a more serious side, what I like very much is that animals cannot be slaughtered (except Wolves) ... unless you find a special item allowing that.
Also there are books in the game, with recipes, for example.
Anyone willing to buy it I would give the counsel / advice to wait a few weeks. There are still seemingly a lot of bugs, even some "quest-brakers" - especially for randomly generated quests - a thing we surely know here, too. There are also reports of a unique copy-protection : People playing without the disc find themselves on an island with no way out ...
