Yes, I agree from what I've heard : Much potential wasted. Also the Monster-"re-spawning" isn't liked much.

Thanks. I decided more or less not to post English patches anymore (only when I accidently get to know them), because there is too much going on at the moment.

This game rocks. Excellent! I adapted my play style after downloading the patch, and now I really like it.

In SP the only change I can see is that when my char or minion makes a kill there is a brief display which shows me the exp. Therefore I left Bellvue and Silver Creek where I then got kills with more exp. and leveled faster. Btw you do get exp for minion kills. In MP I couldn't log on to closed internet play until I installed the patch. I believe there are changes in MP after the patch, but as I didn't play MP before the patch, or even really after the patch (except to look around) I can't comment on that.

thanks... The English version is out. The hd on my desktop is bad and rather then replace it I am using my laptop for all my computer needs; it is only a year old and I bought the best graphics card available at the time. I have plugged into it a 19" monitor, a regular keyboard, and an optical mouse, so the feel is like a desktop. It is attached directly to my stereo system--sounds good. Back on topic--Sacred is great--addictive gameplay, and interesting skill system that is superior to DD and different from D2. The world is vast and totally open: wander where you like. If you do a quest backwards it is set up so that it isn't broken and you still get the reward. Heavy on combat. Light on role play. Nice voice acting. Appropriate music though not as good as DD. To play all the char types to the end of the game as well as subvariants of each char would take you a long time. Lot's of replayability here.

Started a new character last night. A twin-axe wielding gladiator. The best of the hand-to-hand fighters by far. I think I'm just getting better each time I replay though. Fist of the gods is the UBER combat ability. Soooo much damage. I will take this guy through to the end of at least act 1 now. Lvl 16 at the moment with 2 axes each a shade less of 300 damage each. The best weapons seem to be found in the shops. Very cool. On my way to 'stonetalon castle' now or whatever.

After over 25 hours of game time (it keeps track), I thought I would share my opinions of this game.
Short and simple: Ehhh, its alright I guess.
Longer and semi-detailed: Graphics are pretty. Sound is alright. Music is suitable, but not even close to DD. Quests are boring and repetitive. Yeah, theres a lot of side quests but they're basically identical. Story is very thin.
Probably my biggest gripe is the monster respawn frequency. I'm one of those guys who like to get rid of all the "fog of war" on a map. I found it frustrating that you could never clear a map of enemies. Instead, when you revisit a place you were at 20 seconds ago, there are often times more monsters than before, only they yield a lot less exp., but they hit just as hard and take just as long to kill. As you can imagine, this really hampers exploration. In a game world this big, and with the ability to export your character and start new games, respawning IMHO is less than ideal.
The thing I liked the most was character development. My gladiator is pretty cool. The combat moves and combos are well implemented. Good variety of arms and armor.
Overall, if you have nothing alse to play, and you REALLY, REALLY like hack & slash, give this game a try, otherwise, pass and wait for BD.

I played it and gave up after 20/25 hrs - had the Dark Elf - got bored and uninstalled it. I bought it cause I liked the demo (though I swore NOT to use the Seraphim - she was too silly for my liking)
=> Monster respawn => quests were nearly the same, get object A for NPC B and kill enemies (side quests) => quests with a time limit. Cramps my normal gaming style => clear map from enemies first and solve then one by one in peace. I kept rushing from A-B - didn't like that stress => inventory was too small for a greedy person like me => the horse. I didn't want it to get killed, so I trudged on and left it behind until I thought the area was safe and could solve quests faster then - well... monster respawn...
What I liked => the humour, specially grave stones phrases and the goblins, the way my char reacted - a pretty callous guy the combos the graphics in general and the graphical effects. My Dark Elf was a great fighter...
Changes leading me to give the game another sho: => NO monster respawn (if possible as a choice option?) => more quests without time limit => a certain amount of peaceful quests and riddles that are challenging

20-25 hours is not long enough to get what the game is about IMO. Did you get very far? What lvl? If monsters are just as hard to kill when they respawn you're doing something wrong, seriously. I also found a 'monsters of lower level die on sight' amulet which helped immensely. Did you find the pac-man dungeon? There are lots of fun things in this game. Its about making the most powerful character you can and getting to the end. Then playing in the next difficulty level! A bit repetitive like D2 of course, but Ascaron added new areas in the higher difficulties so I'm dying to try them.
The monsters respawn thing is about 5 minutes too. I think they may change it a bit in the next patch.
Kiya, did you only play the dark elf? His traps are what makes him unique and there is a pretty good guide for this in the new Sacred forums.
Valid points from one point of view, most characters get the same basic combat moves, multi-hit, hard hit etc. which can be seen as repetitive. Each one has its own unique talents though. The gladiator's auras are interesting, also the vamp's bats and other summons, the woodelf's spells etc.
I would say a lot of the side-quests are repetitive, and brain-power is not needed for these. Experience is all you do them for, and the items! The intelligence comes from putting your stat points in the right places, fighting a mob properly without dying etc. I imagine this will be more important in the silver difficulty and beyond. Which I will get to eventually!
Sacred is massive, and needs a lot of hours to explore. 20-25 hours does not do the Ascaron team justice.

If you really like the H & S and character development in D2 you'll really like Sacred. If you prefer involved quests then Sacred won't be your style. I also don't like the respawning, but I now play a wood elf with Quick as a Flash and she can easily outrun anything, so when I don't want to fight I just run past. There is a lot to explore here and it is fun. The challenge of developing a great char. in untested waters with a brand new character development system is great.
Womble, Maybe we could do an MP game some time.

I'd like that. Let me finish the game SP first though. There's lots to explore and maybe in the meantime Ascaron will get a few of the MP bugs sorted out.

No, Womble, I had no probs with my Dark Elf or the enemies - I could kill them easily => I was just bored by the monster respawn, that's all. Yes, I tried traps - but I liked his direct attacks more. It's just my way of playing - I clear a map and then solve quests - and for this I wanted to have a faster transport => horse. Well, and it got simply on my nerves - this endless trail of goblins/robbers etc. running after me. As for the quests - maybe I was unlucky and there are more interesting ones later on (later on mainly with a time limit) - but bringing object/item/person from A to B constantly was just not interesting enough for me. Same for the main quest => it just didn't appeal to me. I'm not saying the game is bad - it was simply not my kind of game keeping me glued to the screen and playing endlessly. Kiya
If I lose interest very quickly I see no point in dragging myself on in a game - you see? I kept it on my drive for 2 weeks after playing 3 days excessively - and then uninstalled it.

Ah, never found the cave with trolls, undead and spiders then? There is a haunted house full of ghosts which are a prtty challenging fight too. Also the island with a big goddam dragon on it! I have yet to beat that bugger. The waypoints are also useful for avoiding repetitive fights, but I guess it just isn't your game. Sometimes its better to come back to something after a break though. You see it from a fresh point of view.

About the monster respawn : There are rumors that this high amount of "spawning" had been included after including the german mag "Gamestar" into the Beta-Test. It might've been their wish, I fear. Well, you know how to treat rumors ...
Ascaron *might* reduce it; it is on theior bug-fixing list.

Actually upon completion of all of the side-quests in an area monster respawn rate is dramatically reduced. Pretty good to me...
