Womble, I was in the demo area and north in the 2 villages - Porto Vallum Urkenburgh, the desert area, then I had to go to Florentina and was in Porto Draco, Mascarell, went over the bridge, took the woods there and was in a fortress Ravenmount(?) - so, I did a reasonable large area to find out if I like a game or not.
Lvl 17-20 maybe, sorry, I didn't even keep a savegame.
Kiya

As I said => no monster respawn and I might give the game a new shot. I even reloaded after I had the first time limit quests to clear the map. If they make respawn an option and I can shut it out... ok. But even then... something I like very much about RPG is the quest part... and this didn't convince me.

20-25 hours is not long enough to get what the game is about IMO. Did you get very far? What lvl? If monsters are just as hard to kill when they respawn you're doing something wrong, seriously. I also found a 'monsters of lower level die on sight' amulet which helped immensely. Did you find the pac-man dungeon? There are lots of fun things in this game. Its about making the most powerful character you can and getting to the end. Then playing in the next difficulty level! A bit repetitive like D2 of course, but Ascaron added new areas in the higher difficulties so I'm dying to try them.

I'm currently in chapter 3. My gladiator is level 31. When I say monsters are just as hard to kill, I don't mean they are difficult, I mean it takes the same amount of time, and I was only getting 17 - 18 exp. for monsters in an area I already been through so its just wasting my time. I think 25 game hours is plenty to make an informed decision on the game.

LordMalis: Hmmm, If I'd played D2 for only 20-25 hours I don't think I would have enjoyed it so much. Lvl 31? You should be giving me tips! I've just started act 2. I enjoy the growing power of my gladiator more and more! He's only lvl 20 I think.

Kiya: I agree, a 'no-respawn' option would be very nice.

Actually, I'm level 32 to now. I'm still playing and will be for sometime to come. Like I said, the game is alright, I'm having fun, but it could be a lot better. Especially if they turn off the respawn!

I just bought the game yesterday and I have installed the latest patch. From what I have seen up till now (I did not have time to play a lot), there is no monster respawn. Is it me?

And Kiya is right. The Seraphim is really silly. But I liked the graphics and the dialogues. The mini map is a pain you know where because you have to constanlty press tab. I need to see more of the game though but generally I think it is a nice break till is out.

The funny thing is that I bought two games yesterday Sacred and Prince of Qin. I bought Sacred for 25 € and POQ 40 €. POQ sucks and I cry for my money

The monster respawning is annoying, but I also didn´t install the patch up to now...

That is funny Bernhard

Oh I forgot to mention that the entire manual is in Greek!!! That was sure something that impressed me. Very rare to see manuals translated in Greek language.

Womble

Are there finishing animations in the game?
Thank you for posting good review. Now, when you played more, how are the impressions? I am still wondering to buy or not. Is it Diablo style hack-n-slash but 3d? I think I have seen that backgrounds are painted 2d.
Is there abracadabra for spells? How do they look in terms of impressivness? I loved cool animations in NWN.
What overall rating can you give.

Sorry to torture you with my questions, I am very curious.

The Engine is rather like : Background 2D , Chars 3D.

I have to say I found one thing that annoyed the crap out of me when playing yesterday. When going up to braverock castle you get attacked by insane wizards who summon loads of flying red demons. They will also cast the infuriating 'plant cage' spell on you to hold you still. Bad for a gladiator. Anyway. My main gripe is with the demons and flying monsters in general. They are impossible to target for a melee fighter! Is this intentional? I hope not. I had an easier time killing my first dragon in the desert! Only took 2 runs to the shops for healing pots. (Gladiators are the ONLY class with no healing spell! and I need more life leach) Anyway. I've loved the challenge so far and will press on. I could use some of the 'cheesier' abilities of the other classes but I'll leave that for now. Hopefully it will get better. Act2 of D2 drove me insane, particularly cave leapers...... So it will get better I hope.

I'll update later, tonight is spellforce night. I'm alternating so as to not be driven insane.

I am already insane... After playing all weekend I see goblins around the office... Oh my! Level 12 Vampire and that orc chief (No it was not jurak) is throwing me fire and rocks and I really can not do anything about it! I have spend all my money to portions and still can not get him! And that combo attack... Till it is respawned I am already dead. Twice

Use the concentration skill Luc. It'll help your combo recharge faster. What orc chief? Are you rescuing Wilbur? You could level up a bit in some other area first. Don't use too many runes to level up your skills either. The recharge time will become rediculous.
My Gladiator does something like this with the average mob:
Multi-hit first, 4xhard hit combo and another multi-hit after or fist of the gods to finish off bosses. All on keys 6,7 and 8. If anything is left alive, its a dragon.

Egin, there are no particular 'finishing moves' but the combat skills give some awesome crowd-control skills. The combos simply allow you to do up to 4 combat moves at once, 1 after the other but giving a longer recharge time.
Hope that helps.

@ Womble thnx. I will try to use a portion for concentration since I do not have that skill yet. But I have portions Yes I am trying to rescue that guy but I seems really hard. Where do you think is the best area to level up a bit?

Thnx that was really good to read. But now I have one more question. How do we trade the runes that I do not need? Up till now I sell them but the price I get is not good. So haw can I trade them with the Combo Master?

Hi Luc!

You click on the combo master. There are two buttons then. Combos and trade. Click on trade and you can trade your runes. For 3 ones you get a rune of your class, if you give up 4 runes you can choose your rune.

I thought the button was 'exchange' but I'm sure Luc will get the idea.
