What game was Ft Joy first mentioned? I'm thinking DD or OS1? It's just that I have this memory of a large river south of it and I hate dangling memories so I want to investigate further. Seems I remember Cyceal being described in OS1 as on the south side of an island, once center to trade but no more. I guess the march north could have been on a large island as opposed to it being a peninsula as you both concluded early on.
