well see what Larian becomes.
Hopefully the old saying of "die a hero live to see yourself become the villain" doesnt hold true and larian doesnt become the new bioware...

Come on guys, we know still nothing about BG 3 but you already debate what Larian will become.

I will tell you one thing - In order to destroy Larian, they should be purchased by EA or Activision or any other money digging company. For now, it's the same old Larian, who made D:OS 1 and D:OS 2, just with more people hired. Swen Vincke is still the boss, they're independant so nothing really changed. We should expect great games from them.

Isn't the new Bioware supposed to be Archetype Entertainment now anyway? Reading from wikipedia, they're a subsidiary of WotC, with James Ohlen, Drew Karpyshyn and Chad Robertson (among others). In my mind they left the whole EA conglomerate in order to regain lost artistic integrity and freedom. WotC wants them to become a triple A publisher apparently. Let's hope they don't end up being consumed by the very company they just left.

well CDPR might be in the process of becoming "the villain" with Cyberpunk so it certainly can happen...

I don't think they are changing in a negative way, but like an exciting positive evolution as they benifit from experiemce and greater resources.

To be fair the PF:WoTR game does not only add a lot of classes, races, archtypes, etc, but also new game mechanics like the mythic path, mounted combat, etc... and I assume that they are going to use the WoTR mechanics so we would have chapters with the mass combat ruleset. But the guys of Owlcat already have the OC TTRPG adventure path and all the base and experience of the first game, the ones of Larian have to make a game almost from scratch.

That said, I am one of the ones that are going to buy and play both titles.
So good to be alive in the `20s

Cyberpunk seems to have been gone a far way from what was originally promised.
Not delivering about half the roles int he original PnP game, becoming more linear, focusing on celebrity cameos and woke brownie points

VIc hence why i compared owlcat to Larian with OS2.
Larian had the baseline done with OS1, so with OS2 they expanded on that and tried to focus more ont he story bit and interresting encounters.
Owlcat seems to also add a lot new content (which OS2 also did with two new classes i guess)

the mythic paths seem to be the big new thingt hat OS2 had no equivalent of, maybe OS2 having character races would be that equivalent.
but yeah, they have a baseline and they expand from there onward.
Thats the same situation larian was in with OS2.

Now with BG3, they had to start from scratch, very different ruleset and all that.

Agreed. @Sordak

What can I say, at least the guys in Larian, Owlcat, Tactical adventures, etc seem to be doing it right, because most of the titles "based" in TTRPG and D&D seem to be almost forgettable in the past decade. And now Hasbro announced that they want to launch seven more titles with the D&D license
https://thenextweb.com/distract/202...w-dd-games-starting-with-baldurs-gate-3/
But the first one that they announced is BG:Dark Alliance 3, an action hack`n slash game so I do not have high hopes for the others...

Actually Owlcat has a Toutorial and I think some other stuff to make WotR more new user friendly then Kingmaker was, so they are trying for both Grognards and noobs. BG3 might do that too.

Thing is, atm we don't know which one will feature proper mod tools and support.
