Tbh I am really excited, because I felt like the 5E was implemented very well. In my opinion it really looked like you could "play like you want and if you can think it you can do it, approach" This really caters alot ot me. Given the nature of the build, It is hard to give opinion on all, since alot can change and the bugs etc. But it looks like progression to me, I have actually hype for this game, this might spark more games in the D&D setting, with quality !

We saw feather fall in the game which is normally a reaction spell, so we'll probably see other reactions skills and spells introduced just without using a reaction to activate.

Uncanny dodge and Arrow Catching would be rather easy to put in, with them affecting the first attack to hit the character on the enemy turn. Counterspell and Warcaster are a bit less clear, would likely change a bit if they are in the game.

You should have the option to use your reaction. Being automatic might make you avoid no damage and taking a ton of damage from another enemy.

Descent I knew but also Murder in Baldurs Gate? Maybe the Dead Three play a more prominent role ans the Mind Flayer thing is a red hering/side story

the dead three are obviously gonna play a role, itd would be ridiculous if they didnt.
Mindflayers seem like the obvious disc 1 boss

Also note, this is Forgotten Realms.
Unlike most normal fantasy settings, in FR stuff ties together in weird ways due to the way DnD works.
A plot about mindflayers can quickly become one about demons.

A plot about giants can quickly beocme one about the elemental plane of fire.

Theres a lot of DnD Isms that in turn lead to a lot of strange stories, sort of stories arising from mechanics
