You can make a custom character, just like we saw in DOS2 ie.
Nobody knows if you can customice body, height, tats, but you can pick whatever race/subrace and class/subclass along with gender. Most likely hair style and different faces.. But it is too early to say how much will be customable. Most likley we will be able to put on our own tags to the custom character as well.
Personally I have no interest in origin characters, I dislike them. I understand why they are there, some people like to play with a set character.
