You are legit because you mentioned Jagged Alliance 2.
Ultimately what makes the game authentic or not is the writing, art assets and D&D mechanics. Can't be a clone of BG2 tech and they have to start somewhere to get this far in 2-3 years so some evolution from DOS has to be accepted.
