Well you could have it such that we can custom-create our own PC but choose to add in a pre-gen background story from a list of options. Doesn't have to be a lot of options, maybe 4 or 5.
Exactly this. And have in maaaany rpgs the option to play whatever you want and still have an awesome story, like it was in bg2. Doesn't matter if you had a female orc character whatever. Also neverwinter, or every mmorpg, Arcanum, the Elder scrolls or whatever.
Premade Characters for beginners to help them? Yes
Premade characters that have a better story than a selfmade? Never ever.
And to be honest. This whole concept of origin characters is for me one of the worst things for BG3 until now. I really don't get why it is a benefit at all.
