Minmax is horrible, it forces my hand to pick classes, races, get specific gear, make predetermined decisions.
Would prefer OP characters that a developer finds ways to balance or or other ways to bring them low. They might be an op fighter, but that low charisma might get them into trouble!

Do you realize how much money would have to go into hiring a completely new team?
And them working on one thing does not mean they can't branch out. I spent a few years remodeling bathrooms, then I build a 2 story shed. I already knew how to frame & drywall & paint from my bathroom work, and so I had no trouble doing the shed.

My point being that their skill from DOS is WHY Wizards Of The Coast asked them to make BG3; it will take them, if anything, LESS time, and thus less MONEY, to apply those skills to a new game in the same engine.

And that does NOT mean BG3 will HAVE look or feel like DOS when it is done, except in the broad 'both are turn-based' sense.

I don't have the cost, but there were 120 people working at Larian when D:OS 2 was finished, and now there are 250, with another 100 from outsourcing for extra help.

Anyway, you will have the early access soon to check whether you like it or not.

It's a much bigger game in term of mechanics and content, even if a playthrough is said to be of similar length.

DOS2 had 5 origins and 5 races. The skill lines (there was 10) had between 15 and 25 talents/spells to pick from. That barely covers the Wizard's spell list.

BG3 EA will have 5 origins, but 8 races and 6 classes (well 13 if you count the archetype). Release will have more of all of that (origins, race and classes).

Way more, there are 4~5 archetypes per class.
