Okay, so I am not trying to make a criticism of the game itself here, I am ambivalent about who/why/how the game is being made for the most part.

But I am a gamer and I have tastes. RPGs are my bread and butter, and cRPGs whether action, or RTwP, or Tactical are my jam. Of recent note, I was hugely impressed by Mutant Year Zero, and I am a huge fan of the first Pillars ... as well as every cRPG going back to Times of Lore on the Commodore 64. I've played every Ultima, every Infinity Engine game - I still play the BG trilogy all the time (yeah, most fans consider ToB to be part 3 already), most of the gold box games, etc etc etc.

However, and I know this must suck to hear for fans, but I have tried numerous times to play and finish either of the DOS games. I just can't. I can't get in to them because I find the characters and companions to be largely insipid, and the combat to be really simplistic and repetitive. I find the dialogue system to be jarring and immersion breaking. I find the chapter based maps small and mostly linear. I just can't get lost in the games like I can with others. This is a me thing, this is my opinion, I am not judging here.

So my question is, how would you allay concerns for people who've never liked your games, but are die hard fans of BG and other cRPGs? In what way have you considered their perspective while developing the game?

I get where you are coming from I tried to get into Divinity Original Sn 2 but I could not get into it but I really love DND games like Baldur's Gate one and two and Neverwinter Nights one and two so I am hoping that the story does not turn into Divinity Original Sn 2

I doubt you will receive an official response to this (if that's what you are looking for). You have largely insulted their product (a highly successful and much lauded product at that). If I were them, I wouldn't respond; or if I did, I would take the high road and just say, "well you can't please everyone. Good luck."

Well it is a good question and I think he did not mean to insult Larian Studios not every one likes Divinity you know and the hole point of making a new game is to get new players to buy your game and enjoy it

Yes, not everyone likes them and that's fine And I'm sure they want to expand their audience. But, like I said, you can't make everyone happy. For me, if I'm someone who has created something that so many other people have enjoyed and praised, and someone comes along and says, "I hate what you guys have done. I find it insipid, simplistic, repetitive, jarring and linear. What are you planning to do to make me happy?" Well, I don't think I would have anything nice to say.

I never said "what are you going to do to make me happy", I asked "in what way have you considered people like me while making the game" ... if your answers are any indication, then they've lost a sale because you are just rude and I wouldn't want to associate with people like you.

And the simple answer would be "you can't please everyone." Because they are a business they would be more politic and likely say something like, "Well, we're sorry you were not pleased with the product we out out. But, given it's reception and success, we're happy with the things we have done and we think it prudent to continue to move in that direction." When you have hated what they have done, what kind of an answer are you expecting?

Given this has already started getting personal and this topic has received more reports than the rest of the forum combined so far this weekend, I think it's best that I close it.
