Larian Studios Forums Divinity: Original Sin 2 Divinity - Original Sin 2 - Bugs & Technical Problems Opening Storage Chest causes the game to freeze

Hello there,

Background:
- After a fruitful day of plundering and sending my freshly stolen items to Lady Vengeance's Storage Chest, I wanted to clear it up a little bit, but when I open the Storage Chest, the whole game freezes.
- It is purely a single player game.

Issue:
- Storage Chest freezes the game when opened. You can see the items inside, but since the game freezes, you cannot move any item anywhere.
- When you open the Storage Chest (the game freezes), the chest does not close, you cannot use skills (no cooldown or source points taken), cannot change areas, cannot fast travel anywhere, cannot engage Fletcher in a conversation, cannot even load a previous save - need to kill the Divinity 2 DE process.
- There are 365 single slots taken in the the Storage Chest at the moment (53 rows).

This is PC/Steam/DE version.

Infinite Spirit Vision - Definitive Edition
Free Pet Pal [Definitive Edition]
Unnerf Lone Wolf
Let There Be Tooltips! - Definitive Edition
Potions Give Empty Bottles - DE
Auto Identify - Definitive Edition

If you load the save without any mods enabled, does that make a difference?

Did you try waiting a while?

Try lowering the graphics settings and resolution, and switch to Windowed or Fake Fullscreen display mode, to see if that helps.

Try verifying local files: in the Steam library, right click on the game and select Properties, switch to the Local Files tab and then click on the 'Verify Integrity of Game Cache...' button.


If that doesn't help, please email supportdos2@larian.com with your save (or a Dropbox or Google drive link, etc), and a link to this topic.
Each save is a folder in the '..\Documents\Larian Studios\Divinity Original Sin 2 Definitive Edition\PlayerProfiles\<ProfileName>\Savegames\Story' folder.
In Windows Explorer you can zip a file or folder by right clicking on it/them and selecting 'Send To | Compressed (zipped) Folder'.

Hi Raze, thanks for prompt response. I have actually thought about trying to run it without the mods. It turns out indeed, the autoidentify mod broke it for an uknown reason.

On a side note, I have another bug to report.
When you finish the Agressive Takeover quest before telling Garvan about the box for Red Link in the Ledger quest, Garvan ends up dead and you end up being left with an unfinished quest in your diary

Would you happen to have any advise on closing up this quest? Or should I just wait for it to get archived?

The quest should be updated when you leave Reaper's Coast.
