I am running GOG DOS2:Definitive on windows and I cannot get a reply from the UDP connections. I did disable all firewalls and added port-forwarding but no success.

I think it is due to my router, how can I change this settings to use TCP or other ports? Any other tips that could help getting multiplayer working?

There is no way to change the networking configuration, that I know of.

Are you shutting down all non-essential programs before starting the game, especially anti-virus and anything network related (utility or monitoring programs, etc)?

Have you tried hosting?

Have you tried joining anyone else?

Have you tried hosting/joining an Arena match?

Try going into Arena mode, create an arena, open the Connectivity menu and check the settings, then exit to the main menu and try joining in the lobby. Alternately, create a multiplayer game lobby, exit and try joining.

If you are using any mods, try testing in a new profile without any mods enabled.

With the GOG version, in the (optional) Galaxy client, select Divinity: Original Sin 2 in the left column, then click on the More button, and in the Manage menu select 'Verify / Repair'.

Have you tried different ways to join? If the host also has the GOG version, there is the lobby and invite functions.
There is also Direct Connection, with a Server ID (which the host can get in the Connectivity Menu after starting a new game or loading a save) or IP address.
LAN may be an option, but since you are not on the same local network, it would require VPN software, such as Hamachi or Tunngle.
If you use Discord, that may also be an option.

Try resetting your network adapters:
- click Start (or Search in Win 10), type cmd into the search box, right click Command Prompt and select run as administrator.
- type the following command and hit Enter
netsh winsock reset
- when that is done, there should be a message 'Winsock reset completed successfully'
- type exit and hit Enter, then reboot your computer.
For more details, see:
https://iihelp.iinet.net.au/Resetting_Network_Adapter_(Winsock_Reset)

If you can not join other people, either, try starting the game, switch to windowed mode and lower the game resolution (and maybe check the option to mute the sound volume when the game doesn't have focus), start a multiplayer game, hit Esc, open the Connectivity Menu, optionally disable online multiplayer (if it is enabled) and make sure LAN Connections is enabled (or that can be done in the options before starting a new game).
Next, start the game again from the 'EoCApp.exe' program file (doesn't matter if the first instance is started through Steam/Galaxy or the executable), select Join Online Game in the Campaign section, switch to the LAN tab, rather than Online, and try joining.

Thanks for the quick reply!

Did close everything else. Did try hosting and joining. Did reset the network adapters. I am not using and never used mods. This is a fresh install from nothing in this patch.

The issue is that I am "Not connected to online community servers", I think it is my router is blocking the ports, because I check on https://www.yougetsignal.com/tools/open-ports/ and I cannot reach my pc through the ports that the EoCApp.exe process tries to communicate. That is why I wanted to try TCP instead.

Anyway I will keep trying to open the router ports. Thanks for the advice.

I switched routers, but still cannot connect...

Also tried the arena thing, but the result is always the same message of not connected to community servers.
I did the last step of creating 2 instances of the game and joining through local LAN tab, that works fine.

I was trying using the GOG overlay like suggested, but it also does not work. Just like this post on gog forums: https://www.reddit.com/r/gog/comments/9pkugh/gog_overlay_not_working_for_dos2_definitive/

I guess I can try the LAN over VPN, but that so clunky frown
I will also try direct connect again.
I don't see how discord helps?

Direct connect worked! After the host enabled joining the game direct connect worked.

Still would like to connect to community servers...

Are you starting the game through Galaxy? That should not be required, though, or even having Galaxy running.

Do you have any other multiplayer games on GOG that use Galaxy, that you can check?
Do you have the same error message with the Classic release of the game?

Does it matter if you start the Classic version of the game, or the Definitive Edition?

Did you check your firewall settings, to make sure the game has internet access?

Try doing a clean boot and then test the game, starting it from the executable. Click Start, or hit WinKey-R, type in msconfig and hit enter; in the General tab, click Selective Startup, uncheck Load startup items (if required) and leave Load system services and Use original boot configuration options checked. Next, click on the Services tab, check the box to Hide all Microsoft services, then click the Disable All button (maybe make a note of which are currently enabled/disabled), then click OK and reboot the computer.
Run msconfig again to switch back to the normal boot configuration.

Try creating a new Windows administrator user account, switch to that account and try starting the game from there, directly from the executable.

Ok, So i fixed it thanks for the helpw when i went to try your fix of a clean boot in the MSCONFIG i found under services GOG Communication was not ticked (i must have changed it at some point?) so galaxy worked fine with updates and everything but turns out this is the service that must be used for DOS2 to communicate with community servers.

Thanks again Raze for the prompt response and i hope for any users in the future this may help them out also hehe
