Taken a long time but I have sorted it. Had several goes on verifying local files and other stuff. Failed probably due to my lack of expertise in the workings of Macs! However new user account worked perfectly. I have to start from beginning but to be honest that is best because i have generally forgotten how to play the game! I still am intrigued as why it all ent wrong in the first place but thanks for your help over the 6 months or so!
