Playing definitive edition on PS4. After equipping the full captain's set I found after awhile any pants I'm wearing unequip themselves and become an unidentified item in my inventory. Once this happens they're not able to be identified and i have to get new pants.

I don't know if this is suppose to be a joke since that set gives you a charm aura. But something is definitely not working properly.

I dont have any mods running and my pants were fine before equipping the full captain's set.

Anyone else having this issue?

I made an account to say this exactly and wanted to report this glitch. When ending Act 1 (boarding the ship with Malady) the character wearing the Captain's armor set as well as the gloves from the Devourer's set had his pants unequipped. It then appeared as an unidentified leggings in his inventory but could not be identified using Loremaster skill or any vendors who have Identify capabilities. After saving and trying to reload the game crashed.

I tried reloading to a save before the act transition and got rid of the unidentified leggings and bought new pants from Exter on the ship. I proceeded with the storyline but after the fight against Dallis on the ship and reappearing on the ship after the Hail of Echoes, I set sail for Act 2 and found that once again the pants were unequipped and now unidentified, and the second player character also had an unidentified helmet and necklace that I don't know I actually had in my inventory now. That character was not wearing any of the gift bag armor set pieces.

I reloaded to an auto save of the same playthrough in the Hall of Echoes, before the transition to Act 2, and unequipped all the Gift Bag armor set items (Captain's hat, chest, and feet plus the Devourer gloves) as well as the leggings. I tried to transition to Act 2 with everything unequipped and didn't seem to have any duplicate items this time, though I have not done any testing after that.

I doubt this is a glitch because it seems like the save is sometimes corrupted. I am hoping that this does not result in lost saves and having to play Act 1 again. Hoping that someone at Larian can see this bug post and look into it! I was really excited to see even more gift bag content and love playing this game in so many different ways!

Pants disappearing when changing map areas is a known issue with the Charismatic Coat, which should be fixed in a future update. Unequipping the pants/leggings before the act transition should avoid this.

Adestus;
Do you still have the save before the transition to act 2, where you ended up with extra equipment? If so, please email supportdos2@larian.com with it (or a Dropbox or Google drive link, etc).
On PC, if you are using any non-Larian mods, also include a list of those enabled and/or the modsettings.lsx file from your profile folder.
Each save is a folder in the '..\Documents\Larian Studios\Divinity Original Sin 2 Definitive Edition\PlayerProfiles\<ProfileName>\Savegames\Story' folder.
In Windows Explorer you can zip a file or folder by right clicking on it/them and selecting 'Send To | Compressed (zipped) Folder' (and similarly in OSX/Finder).

PS4 saves can be sent, as well, but they would need to be transferred to a USB flash drive first.
In the Saved Data in System Storage section of the Settings menu, click Copy to USB Storage Device, select the relevant save(s) and Copy. From there you can zip the files, then copy to email or upload somewhere and provide a link.

Wow, thank you Raze for the quick and helpful response, it was an unexpected surprise! I appreciate you and Larian being so dedicated to supporting the community, and I apologize if this known issue was already posted elsewhere. I confess that I found Kimuura4's forum post as the first result when searching for this issue through Google, and perhaps did not spend enough time searching for a solution.

I will have to check tomorrow to see if I still have that save as I was a bit hesitant to save the game most of the times I had noticed that I had some of the unidentified items. I am playing the game on PS4 and currently have no idea where my USB drive is, but provided I can find or get one and that I still have the save I would be glad to forward it on to the support team, thank you!

I don't think this was posted here before, actually. QA found this when testing, unfortunately not until after the update was released, and one person emailed support.
In any case, it is better to get duplicate reports than miss something.

Thank you so much for responding quickly!

I assumed the issue had to do with captain's set and not transitioning through the game. I did try to find a fix for it but no one had brought it up.

If I decide to accept my old pants as a loss and continue with the game, will it not happen again since I'm in act two, or will I need to remove my pants for every act transition until the bug is fixed?

Thanks again for helping! I was going to just accept my pantsless fate until I found a better set! eek

You will probably need to unequip the pants again when you leave Reaper's Coast, if the hotfix is not released by then.

I have the same problem, which then caused a different issue. Once I arrived at Reapers Coast, I noticed the bug and tried equipping a different pair of pants, which happened to be the Tyrants Stride since it was the only one I had in my inventory. But now my character is permanently slowed, doesn't matter if I have the pants equipped or not, if I'm wearing the full Tyrants set or not, the slow won't go away :(

To make things better I'm playing in Honor mode and the game autosaved, so I can't load a previous one. Do I just wait for the hotfix?

Edit: I'm on pc btw.

Please email supportdos2@larian.com with your save (or a Dropbox or Google drive link, etc), and I can probably remove the slow status in the developer build of the game. I can also confirm if the issue is fixed in the latest build for the next update (it should be).

If you are using any non-Larian mods, also include a list of those enabled and/or the modsettings.lsx file from your profile folder.
Each save is a folder in the '..\Documents\Larian Studios\Divinity Original Sin 2 Definitive Edition\PlayerProfiles\<ProfileName>\Savegames\Story' folder.

I ended up starting over, but I made a backup of the save file just in case the issue was new, should I send the save anyway if I don't need the slow removed anymore?

No, you don't need to send the save if you don't need the status removed.
