As far as I have been able to notice so far, the spells are not "recited" in any way. You see some light effects, many wow effects, but in practice in D&D the Verbal, Somatic and Material components are by no means an option for the enchanters.
Otherwise spells like: Silence - 2nd level would make no sense.
In BG1 and BG2 the spellcasters had that ancient Latin-like voice effect when casting a spell, which was very nice and spot on. I think a similar effect, but I hope even better, CANNOT BE MISSING IN BG3. What do you think?

Yes and no. In BG2 spells had cast time which gave time for chanting. You don't want to add additional chanting time in turn based game - it will get very very old.

However, BG3 has this "aiming thing" - where you click on spell or ability, and character gets ready to use it while you choose the target. I could see them chanting in that moment - allowing it to be shortened if you choose target before the chant ends.

Here you can hear Gale saying " Ignis " for a fireball. That's all. That is probably what Swen meant by they were recording Latin.

VERY disappointing.

The original chanting would make the already cumbersome TB combat into an unplayable experience. Larian is trying to cut down as much as they can on each turn, so I expect there will be no chanting anymore, unfortunately.

The verbal component of spells is usually rather short, I see no reason why there couldn't just be a short latin phrase along with the beginning of a cast.

Shield; "Ego protegat!"
Sacred Flame; "Ignis conflans!"

The chanting was nice for ambient sound, but it was just a neat way to present the verbal component of a spell.

Exactly! what I meant was just that. It would be very unfortunate to lose this environmental effect ... I think a spellcasting fight should have a lot of emphasis on this ... that's what makes a wizard A true wizard ... so to speak.

I think they could add long phrases for "big" spells, like source spells in DOS2. That way it won't be irritaiting or time consuming in normal battle speed and still has this BG feeling

Or concentration based skills, perhaps?

Baldur's Gate spellcasting last something like 3 or 4 sec maximum. (Words)
That's not a problem if it's interresting to see...

But in DoS (and in BG3) everything is cut in two sequences : first when you click the spell, second when you click the target. That mean you'll never see the whole spellcasting in one time. You can't cut a setence of 3 sec in two times, it will look ridiculous.

There are solutions, but they won't change anything and we'll only have a word by spell, which is very sad.

Just think about a cool spellcasting animation/sounds that suits something like this sentence and it's not a problem even in a TB game.

Bards should use yodeling vocalizations when casting their spells. That will help offset their massive spell powers granted by 5E.

Really nice, it was exactly what I said ... In the end the team is also dedicating to shorten the fighting sequences, but the spells LIVE on sounds and gestures ... if you shorten the sounds it becomes worse than the movie "the dominators of the air "only gestures and visual effects .... I'd like to hear my Wizard cool!
