I have a two part question with some background.
1. When playing CRPG's I don't particularly care for meticulously controlling the actions of every party member. For example, when playing BG 1-2, IWD 1-2, and PoE 1-2, I would generally pick one character (not necessarily the character I created) and only control that character during combat, leaving the other party members to be controlled by AI. So my questions are as follows:
1a) Will there be an AI system for each party member, and how customizable will it be (I personally felt that IWD 2's AI system was the best from those listed above, it offered a variety of choices without me having to pick individual triggers for each action).
1b) Because it will be turn-based (with no plans for 'real time with pause'), will there be a quick press button during combat that tells a party member to do whatever its AI tells it to do? Or will I be FORCED to tactically move, choose what spells or class features they use, and target what enemies to attack EVERY round?
AI for party members is not really a thing in turn-based RPG's. AI for party members is a RTwP thing. Turn-based combat, almost by definition, has you controlling each individual member precisely on their turn, telling them precisely what you want them to do.
If AI existed, you would want that AI to be very good AI and do what you want, and be annoyed when the AI did something different to what you wanted.
I don't believe that Larian will implement AI for party members.
